The low voice rumbles out from the heavily wooded brush, just on the edge of the clearing.
You have.
You have wandered far. This you tell the voice, though not without a little trepidation. Walking alone out in the woods, on the dreary day of Hallow's Observance, when the spirits are at their most restless, it is quite foolhardy to do so. It is also foolhardy to admit to it. But you gather what courage you can find to speak up. He chuckles.

"Yes, yes you have. Perhaps you have wandered only for miles. Perhaps you have travelled across clans. For you, whether it is just the next town over or from other lands, you have come far. Hmm...."

And here the voice pauses...and then...

He steps out from the woods, revealing himself to you. A raptor made of sharp angles and fearsome appearance. His sharp face turns to the side, the better to see you with his eye that winks out from a skull. At his side is strapped a sword, broad and rusted. It looks well used.

"Would be foolish to continue alone, yes? Perhaps Kumakatok can help you with that."

You are fearful that he means to travel with you, this spirit of the night, this apparition of grisly porportions. As if reading your thoughts, he only laughs in response, sharp and rough, razor teeth glinting in the deep of the forest.

"Oh, no. Not me. Not me. Kumakatok rather likes this Forest. But perhaps a gift he imparts to you. Someone who is born of the Deep Dark..."

And then suddenly lights are all around you. Continuously blinking and winking. Small things, large things, different in sizes and shapes. You think at first they are fireflies...and then you realize that they are something much more than lights in the dark.
