Astridaire saw a clan of dragons struggle in the Forgotten Cave. Dregs of experience from battles they had no doubt encountered before left them tried and discouraged at their lack of advancement.

She appeared before them and the clan offered treasure, hoarded and stockpiled from the beginning hoping to gain such a battle hardened dragon.

Entering the new lair which it had never housed such an older, experienced dragon it was quite clear the clan had never breeched even the Waterway.

With the agreement made, Astridaire took the young dragons to the Mire. Some dragons Knocked Out by the sheer presence of such strong enemies, others not landing a single strike. But everyday, Astridaire brought the young ones to the Mire and fought - sometimes on her own, sometimes with others, stronger, who all knew the area just as well as she. The clan rejoiced at her efforts which at times seemed worlds away from their own experiences.

Being the only lightning dragon within the clan, Astridaire took great pride in it. She was the strongest and knew it well.

Until those Wildclaws appeared, shrieking.

Regardless of the bloating numbers of the clan and the lack of focus most held, Astridaire was frustrated. The inner bickering between Asunder and her daughter reminded her of how her own children were... no longer there.

She isn't sure when it began. Finding those tadpoles and returning them to the local pond, one which now overflows with wartoad children whose mothers and fathers were gone from this realm.
