Styx

Styx doesn't talk very much. She keeps to herself, giving short answers to any questions and doesn't really interact. She is not disliked - she is amiable enough and never rude, but she's not particularly popular either.

She aids the terminally ill, the grievously wounded, the old, all that are on the brink of moving on. And somehow they seem at peace with her silent presence. Some of them get better or regain their energy again, and then Styx quietly withdraws. But most don't and she sits by their side as they go to serve the deity. She always stays until they are gone and somehow it seems that if she is held up by something they will not pass on or they will do so with considerable difficulty and fear. The others simultaneously admire her for her soothing presence and fear her because they know that seeing her entering the den is a bad omen.

Styx never talks about her great grandmother and no one asks her about it anymore. Though everyone knows of her linage of course, of her direct connection to the gatekeeper that shouldn't have existed. She shouldn't have existed. And sometimes, if someone looks too long into the bright eyes of the Pearlcatcher, they start wondering is she really does.
