Sometimes it opens up and lets you live within its loving embrace.

- Adolescent Biography

Marienne Celeste had a far more troubled past than she lets on - or indeed, anyone but Respite knows about.

She was once known as Banshee.

She stole at first for necessity, and then for the sheer fun of it, as part of a roving flock of skydancers who fancied the pirate's lifestyle.

Like the bulk of the others, she wound up doing some jail time here or there, but managed to escape from authorities on what was to be their "final haul".

She managed to slip away with a small fortune, never seeing the rest of her flock again.


- Adult Biography

Marienne isn't fully aware of how The Forest pulled her to it,
all she knows is that in spite of her map suggesting everything otherwise, she found a beautiful space between the trees bordering Ever-Autumn that was the perfect size to build the observatory of her dreams.

Planning and construction went off without a hitch, and the couple were able to move in to their new home within a year.

Though welcoming of all visitors, Mari still sees the mandatory nightly patrols as somewhat odd.

After all, she's never seen anything unusual out there.

Over time, she decided to contribute more directly to the community, and as such opened her own humble bed and breakfast once her son moved out to start his vineyard.

Visitors are welcome to come observe the cosmos through her superb telescope, and as such it's become a very popular destination spot.

Anthea hates her.
