Biography
Sedou Merchant |
Quote:
Travelling merchant and notorious art critic.
Sedou is a frank and rather picky merchant who deals primarily in exotic, luxury items. He's a regular face at the Atelier, where he frequently stops in to both sell his wares and to scout promising artisans and their works.
While his mate Kett will always testify that his honesty is the best part about him, Sedou's bluntness can come off as rather tactless, perhaps even heartless to some.
He never means any offense, though. Usually.
Intrinsically, he's just a fellow very true to his feelings and gut instincts, such that little of his thoughts are filtered.
He's known especially within the Atelier as a particularly harsh art critic.
While many over-eager young artisans come to Sedou to promote their works, they usually end up leaving dejected and disheartened, sometimes in tears.
Sedou holds quite a high standard for his merchandise, and he'll thoroughly tear down works that are beneath his expectations. Conversely, masterpieces that catch his eye are sought for in an instant; he'll pay great sums for the truly wonderful.
Without minced words or empty praises, his honest and sometimes cruel appraisals are rather accurate assessments of a piece's value on the market.
Even big-name craftsmen, like Argo, will sometimes come to Sedou with works-in-progress to receive his input.
His critiques have become so sought after that he's started to charge a service fee.
To the very end, Sedou is a businessman.
|♥| Mate: Kett
Sedou and Kett are childhood sweethearts from the Southern Icefield.
While they're rather well-off now, growing up in the Icewarden's unforgiving domain was no easy feat, living day-by-day under minimal conditions. Sedou, in his youth, couldn't stand the thought of allowing Kett to live out her life bleakly in this cold world, and so swore to her that he'd become rich and take her somewhere warm, where the sun shines. Thus, he began his career as a merchant with determination.
To this day Sedou is overly doting on his mate, and he'll lavish her with gifts and pretty things and vacations; to him, she is worthy of the whole world.
Kett, on the other hand, is more than happy just to be at his side. At the core she's a very modest and simple lass, so she sometimes finds Sedou's spoiling to be sweet but overwhelming; this is probably the only complaint she has concerning her mate, to be honest.
The two of them have a highly interdependent relationship that often finds them in their own little world. Their sheerly saccharine, unconditionally lovey-dovey nature is enough to make third parties cringe.
