Mikhail was nothing like the great bards of old, that could sway a whole crowd with some choice words and a tune from their lute. He was not charismatic enough and lacked the flirty charm that bards were known for. And yet, Eirwyn saw promise in him.
When Mikhail sat down to tell a tale, calm voice never wavering and gentle hands folded in his lap rather than wrapped around the neck of a lute, he was impossible to look away from. He could become famous, Eirwyn thought. I could have taken him under my wing, teach him to become the best bard there ever was. But he also knew Mikhail would never accept.
His ambition was too modest; as long as he had his books, his poetry and Jaromir, he would be happy. So Eirwyn didnt ask, and simply let himself get swept away by the tale he was telling.
