Ambush is a fugitive from an unknown land; he will not speak of his past or where he comes from, only that it is not Sornieth and his crimes are 'many'. Even after travelling worlds, it was a long time before Ambush felt safe enough to settle, and it was by chance he came to the Juniper Swamp, bleeding from the leg and wing. Whilst recovering, Ambush met Autumn, the beastkeeper. Ambush is an avid hunter, and has kept many trophies from his exploits, and although most of his hunting is done for survival, Autumn shunned this practice, and the two argued for far longer than the time it took for Ambush's wounds to heal. He resolved to stay, if only so that he can rub his prizes in the nose of Autumn each day he wins the clan's supper.

Now, the clan is too large for him to feed by himself, but Ambush still brings in an ample supply of meat, feeding himself, Allure, Lamina and Miracle, as well as any others who choose to stop by his hearth. Though Autumn stays with them he remains steadfastly vegetarian, and Ambush swears he will convert him.

Ambush takes his status as a refugee very seriously, and when placed in unsavoury situations will resort to speaking heavily accented Draconian, his crest flaring as he questions the meaning of what he is being asked to do. He also has not grown used to the Sornieth customs of personal space, and some wonder if he has a rivalry built with Autumn at all, or if it is simply his homeland's way of making friends.
