He hadn't thought it would be this difficult, finding a way out of the Tangled Wood. He and his sister were bright, standing out against the dark trees--which while something to be frowned upon there, he thought would have served him well in getting out. But what he had managed to do was to get both he and Grapefruit trapped in the middle of an ice storm, utterly lost and frozen to the bone. Peaches could barely feel his wings anymore; he couldn't imagine how Grapefruit was feeling. Such a small child… He'd needed to get them out. It was the only way they could both survive. Him…he might have been able to hide among the shadows, pretend to be something he wasn't, but at the end of the day, he didn't know how any healthy coatl could survive in that nightmare.

No, the Shadowbinder may have housed him at the beginning of his life, but his heart was not with her. His heart would always be with his sister, and he needed to go where it would be the best for her. So they had left their clan, left the only home they'd ever known…and tried to find their way somewhere new.

What had he been thinking? Why didn't he have a plan? Whose bright idea had it been to head into Southern Icefield? How had he even gotten here?

They had to stop, at least for a little. Peaches did his best to find the closest thing to shelter he could, and let his sister huddle under his wings, trembling. All she could do was ask, in the smallest, weakest voice he'd ever heard from her, if they were close to a new home.

How could he lie? But how could he tell her the truth? He said he hoped so, and prayed that some deity was out there to hear him.
He couldn't estimate how long it had been that they'd stayed there, tight in on themselves when he heard a voice, deep like thunder and fires in a hearth. It took a while before the Imperial came into view, wings frost-touched as they spread out to catch the wind, in a wingspan that had to be twice as wide as his own.

Though most siblings stayed friends throughout being hatchlings and into adulthood, to those who knew Grapefruit and Peaches well, they were inseparable, and their fates were forever entwined. Together they had faced being lost in the Tangled Wood and had joined their forever clan together. Nowadays, they spend their time working at a flower shop that they co-created, and with Abelone, they ensure that their clan has a thriving source of flowers for loved ones, from romantic to platonic relationships.
