B I O G R A P H Y
______ The rhythmic staccato of dropping tiles sharply filled the dark room as a woman stared down from a wooden wingback chair. At each of her sides were tables, one which with stone tiles of black and white, and the other with simple, slender knives atop a leather-bound journal. Her expression bordered dispassionate and boredom while she listened to another go over the schedule for the day. Waving the individual away, she turned her attention to next who replaced them. In her mind, she planned. She wasn't vain despite her age and she's held these lands uncontested despite her youthful appearance. However, whispers in the shadows have begun to coalesce a new image of the realm, one of anarchy and unrest.
______ As she stepped down from the dias, her cloak billowed behind her as it floated to land back on the chair. She crossed the room with long, graceful strides to open a set of doors leading to mezzanine balcony which meandered to a stairway down to the ground level. The air outside was cool against her face as she breathed deeply and gazed out at the sprawling township. When she had taken over, there was much uproar over whether she was fit to be leader. It was a moot point since tradition in the area required governorship to be determined by combat.
