Incorrect quote:
Marvin: The risk that I took was calculated, but man, am I bad at math.

~*WANDERING DRAGON*~
notes: Don't change breed please.

Marvin is an adventurous little fae, being brave enough to explore a bit out of the nest. As soon as he was able to fly, he flew around the lair and outside, worrying older dragons just a bit. His striking colors made him look already like a warrior, so as soon as he found this out, he acted 'tough'. One day he decided to fly a bit farther, to see what's out there...

The beginning of a journey: Pandora's Lair

Marvin takes note of the chilly air... "hmm..it is much colder hear than i thought it would be" he thinks to himself, seeing as he is an ice dragon.."but this is closer to the top of the mountains" he thought. He then notices a few dragons playing in the snow, he watches as the snow dust up in the air and then finds a new place in the snow bank...*Splat*...brrrr...cold...wet..."ouch"..

"Sorry" yells Chilly 2728376.png, "not sure how i missed you, with your bright colors and all, but honestly id didn't see you standing there" he grins sheepishly.

"my name is Marvin what is yours?"..Chilly replies quickly "Chilly is the name and fun is my game" "so what brings you farther up the mountain?" asks chilly. "I am traveling" smiles Marvin very proud of his young self. "really?" asks chilly "where ya staying?"...Marvin pauses for a moment and realizes he hadn't thought about a place to stay.. "dunno" he says...Without missing a beat Chilly says " Don't worry roomy you can stay in our lair, we have plenty of room...and it's taco night". "taco night?" says Marvin. Chilly says "Yep,..don't worry you'll love it". So off they go towards the lair...

Taco night was amazing...Marvin was amazed at the sheer amount of food that was separated into nice little dishes. he watched as each dragon topped their "taco" with the toppings of their choosing. Chilly nudged Marvin, "it's your turn to make your taco's, go ahead choose what you like"..."OK" Marvin did as was instructed and chose his favorite toppings out of the bowls and put them on the "shell"....he took his first bite..and was hooked.....

Marvin did not realize how tired traveling was until the night was over and he was shown where his sleeping area was..he was fast asleep before the candles were even blown out....

During Marvin's stay In Pandora's lair he played with all of the other dragons, having snowball fights,
sled races and making dragon angels in the snow.

Marvin walked out of his bunk space, and Chilly had to take a double look..."Marvin, you are not so little anymore are ya?" Marrvn looked confused and said "what do you mean, I am the same as i was when i got here..." Chilly held up a mirror and said come and look into the mirror..Marvin was shocked by what he saw.. .. The reflection was of a more mature version of himself..he was coming into his own.."I thought it took longer to start maturing..WOW..I am looking good." stated Marvin...Chilly jumped for joy and said," This is great, Now some of the older and more experienced dragons can take you into the coliseum and teach you a few tricks."

Later in the day Marvin met, Akari and Aselakoth in the coliseum, they both had decided they wanted to do a little training and no issues with a young inexperienced dragon tagging along. "just stay behind us" said Aselakoth.. "and remember to duck" added Akari beaming with excitement.

They first entered the Arena, and Marvin paid close attention to how Aselakoth and Akari moved and defended themselves while fighting. To Marvin's Surprise he even got in some hits on the training field. Aselakoth then decided he wanted a bit more of a challenge, so they moved the Boreal wood.. Again Marvin got a few more hits in on the training ground...he also was rewarded with a 1090.png and697.png, Which he wore proudly as battle stones. Aselakoth patted Marvin on the back and said,"you did pretty good for a beginner you are now level five"..."good job" said Akari.

Marvin was exhausted when it came time for bed; the coliseum had tuckered him out. He fell asleep quickly and dreamt of the new journey he would be embarking on and what exciting and mysterious happenings his next stop would bring.

Morning came quicker than Marvin thought it would, he was excited and ready to get on with his journey, but saddened to be leaving his new friends. He thanked Chilly, Aselakoth and Akari...waved to all of the other dragons he had befriended and was ready to be off....Upon leaving the icy lair Chilly gave Marvin a 690.pngJourneyman Satchel to put his things in while moving along in his journey. after a hug and an "I'll see you later".. Chilly was off to his next boarding lair ready for more adventures....

Snowsquall Tundra:

The Fae felt hopelessly lost as nothing but frozen tundra continued to stretch on into the horizon. He was sure that he was heading the right way for the lands of the Gladekeeper but... he looked around and sighed. He was lost and had no sense of direction. Perhaps it was best to call it quits and look for a place to rest and ask for directions. He should have thought to have brought a compass with him but he had been too excited and in a hurry to leave. It was exciting being out and exploring.... it would be better though to see some place new for a change though. One could only stare at snow for so long.

After awhile Marvin spotted a lair poking out among the evergreens and frozen landscape. It seemed as good of a place as any. Hopefully someone was home and that they were friendly. The pink Fae was coming in for a closer look when his pale eyes locked onto the massive sky Tundra below, royal wings stretched out, absorbing the rays of the sun, eyes closed. He was mesmerized at the size of him that he didn't notice the other Tundra male at his side until the sky male spoke.

"Hello friend, greetings. You look tired, come and sit." The sky Tundra male called softly, unmoving. It was amazing, he was sure his approach had been silent. How had he heard? Marvin snorted quietly to himself. He needed to practice. A warrior was silent as a hunter and attacked with all the ferocity of a Mirror. The white Tundra he nearly missed and would have never known for his colors allowed him to blend in perfectly, his hood didn't help either.

Marvin landed near the Tundras, he wanted to learn how to be so silent and alert. It'd make him a better warrior. Imagine what Chilly will think of me when I get back he thought. The sky and royal male turned to the white and ice, "You are dismissed for the day Soren." The white and ice Tundra dipped his head and turned to pad away, his white hood drawn so Marvin didn't get to see his face. Despite his size his footsteps were light and he hardly left an impression in the snow. Marvin's pale eyes widened in amazement. The sky Tundra chuckled "Ah curious are you?". The Tundra chuckled again.

"What is your name friend? I'm Polaris. What brings you to the Snowsquall Tundra?"
Marvin puffed up a bit to hide his startling, caught off guard at the sound of Polaris's voice. Marvin stammered a bit at first but cleared his throat and tried again, trying to sound bigger than he was. "I'm Marvin and I was looking for the Lands of the Gladekeeper."

"Hmm well Marvin you are a bit far from the lands of the the Nature flight. You need to head north. You will not reach there by night fall. Come, stay the night with us. You will be welcomed. I can teach you to keep light on your feet and how to use your new ability in the morning if you would like." With that Polaris stood and began to head in the direction Soren had gone. Curious Marvin followed. As Polaris had said he was welcomed to the frosty lair and well fed. He had his own room and was free to come and go at his leisure after his tour of the place.

Early in the morning, about dawn the pink iridescent dragon awoke with a start to see a hooded figure and a furry leg applying pressure to his tail. Marvin growled at the furry intruder who promptly released and turned away to leave. Now awake Marvin followed, wondering if this was Soren. He seemed rather shy and aloof, even at the feast last night held in his honor. Marvin followed Soren in silence through the ice crystal caverns. This place was huge and he imagined it wouldn't be hard to get lost in the labyrinth of passages, most of them leading to rooms.

In the icy cavern they met with Polaris, the Tundras exchanging dips of the head. He wanted to learn, and followed suite with a dip of his own head. Polaris acknowledged Marvin with a smile and he led the pair outside to the ledge he had found them the day previous. "Begin" Polaris commanded. Marvin looked to the big sky Tundra confused, begin? Begin what?
"OOOOF!" Marvin ate a mouthful of snow as Soren tackled him to the ground. He hadn't even noticed the white gembound male move. Marvin pushed himself up and shook the snow off. "Marvin, focus. You can't be worried about what else is going on. Like us you are a magic user so it is even more important that you focus. Concentrate and focus your energy. Build it up and use it! You are young and have so much! As you get better at focusing your energy you will be able to spread it to areas of your body, like your feet." Polaris nodded to Soren and motioned for Marvin to watch. The young Fae did and was convinced that almost nothing was different, when he saw a faint aura around the white furry gem encrusted feet. As Soren walked around he noticed the paw prints were of varying depths. Marvin screwed up his eyes in confusion.

"By focusing his energy to his feet Soren is able to control the amount of pressure applied by each foot, enabling him to appear nearly weightless or heavy, giving him speed and stealth. Use your terrain. With the snow you need to be light or you will sink and be slowed. You've learned a charge ability, this will help you to control that. You can grip and feel the earth better, to push off it and gain speed for your stunning tackle and just before you strike, channel your energy to your head. This will cause greater damage and affect your enemy more. I want you to practice with Soren being light on your feet and charging up for a powerful tackle. We will start by you, Marvin, avoiding Soren, he is quicker than you think."

Still a little unclear Marvin nodded and so began the first of many training sessions. He was going to master this one way or another. He was determined now! Many of the training sessions ended in bruises for Marvin and little for Soren, he might as well have been a Snapper! Frustrated more than ever he asked Lorelei and Kira for more practice and if he could accompany them and the guard on training sessions. He would watch the sessions intently and do as directed when necessary.

Finally all of his bruises and long hours of practice finally paid off one morning. His session with Polaris and Soren began as usual but it finally clicked. He was able to focus and gather his energy in his feet and even caught Soren off guard. The pink Fae was quick but predictable and was easily dispatched by a swipe of his powerful tail. Marvin recovered quickly and growled fiercely. He was so close to getting it! Besides that he was tired of racking up the bruises. With each attempt Marvin got better and better with focusing his energy, he just needed to work on aim and timing.

It was now the last bout of the session, both dragons were panting hard. Soren started forth in a dash, ready to bowl him over with his powerful shoulders but not this time. Marvin concentrated hard, willing all of his energy to his feet. He shot off toward Soren and just as the impact seemed intimate, Marvin dodged Soren's attack effortlessly and slammed into his side, knocking him over and the wind out of him. He had done it. He had mastered his Clobber ability and how to Concentrate.

Polaris smiled at the two. "Well done boys, excellent. You have done quite well, enough for today." Both dragons bowed to Polaris and then to each other. "Marvin, here, you have earned this. You are well on your way to being a great wizard. Don't forget to concentrate." Polaris smiled and handed the little Fae and a brown wizard hat.
"The Gladeviens are to the north of here. You should be there Sometime tomorrow if you leave early tomorrow. I know you are anxious to be on your way again but you have earned a good long rest. You both are relieved from hunting and patrols. Tonight we shall feast again in honor of your accomplishments and to wish you, Marvin, a fond and safe fair well." Soren and Marvin dipped their heads in thanks. Marvin couldn't be happier. A good time was had by all at the feast, Marvin was saddened at the thought of leaving his new found friends but couldn't wait to begin his journey again.

Marvin gained:
  • 2 lvls
  • Concentrate battle stone (to be sent with so owner can decide stone placement)
  • Brown Wizard hat

It had been a long flight, but at last he has finally made it. The realm of the Gladekeeper stretched out beneath his wings. The ground was once more starting to consume the sun, signifying the end of a day and the dawn of night. Marvin was glad to be in a more tropic location after having spent weeks in the frozen wasteland he called home. He had not realized it, but he had slowly drifted from the center to the coast while venturing from the Southern Ice Floes. He really did need a compass, or at least a better sense of direction.

"Oh well, better make the most of it," Marvin sighed as he started his descent into the jungle sprawling below him. Marvin flew lazily between the trees in search of a lair where he could at least rest for the evening. His slow, easy pace also made it possible for Marvin to stare at the beauty around him. Never in his short life had Marvin seen some many different colors, shapes, and sizes of plant; it was simply breath taking. The little fae soon stopped looking where he was flying, paying more attention to what was around him, than in front of him.

"Hey watch where you're...Uff!"

A voice called out just before they collided. Marvin snapped to attention and was able to focus enough to move out of the other dragon's way. Marvin's quick actions saved him from injury but allowed the other dragon to ram into a tree. The other dragon fell to the ground in a heap, causing some unknown creatures to take flight, screaming into the evening air. Distracted Marvin looked away from the other dragon, trying to discern what had just taken flight. A groan from below brought the pink dragon back to more pressing matters. The little fae darted down to assist.

"I'm so sorry, I was just so curious about all of the plant life. Are you okay, do you need any help?"

"Next time, if you can't concentrate on where you're flying, walk!" The dark dragon sat up and glared at Marvin. Electricity started sparking from the cranial fins. The dragon sitting before Marvin was another fae, but much older than him. It had reddish purple wings and sky blue circuit lines coursing all over its body. The dragon was wearing brass goggles with aqua colored lenses. The right lens was badly cracked however. Just as the dragon began to say something else, the colored glass of the right lens shattered revealing the dragon had icy blue eyes. The male fae frowned severely at Marvin before continuing.

"Great, now I have to go get another pair, now where is my hat," the dragon said, rubbing its bald, scaly head. The dragon twisted around looking for a hat amongst the leaf litter.

"Hey. you're from the Ice Flight just like me! My names Marvin, what's yours fellow icicle?" Marvin said excitedly. He saw the other dragon looking around and began searching for a hat as well. Marvin found the item and and handed it back to the fae.

The circuit fae snatched the faded blue-grey hat and proceeded to dust it off before placing it on his head. "Well Marvin, you owe me, Rye, a new hat, but I don't have time to go back to the store now. You'll just have to follow me back to my lair and work off your debt. Come along, quickly, no dwadling now! I have a lot of work to do." Rye then stood and dusted himself off, before launching himself in to the air. Once airborne Rye headed in the opposite direction Marvin had been traveling.

Marvin wasted no time getting his azure wings in gear. He obediently followed Rye through the forest and then through a vine screen that obstructed the mouth of a large cave. Rye twitched his cranial fins as he flew past a pair of dragons that sat alert at the mouth of the cave. Marvin slowed to say hello, but was quickly admonished by Rye.

"Come on, you can speak with the others later. I must get these things in order before the storm. Things would be a lot easier around here if we had a proper forger around here. Those feather brained nit wits know absolutely nothing." The second part was something Rye grumbled to himself, so Marvin was unsure if he caught everything.

Rye rushed Marvin into a narrow passage way that gave rise to an open room with a hole in the ceiling. The walls of the room had been carved from the stone to form shelves. The shelves were cluttered with books, papers, and an odd assortment of things from complicated gadgets to spare parts.

"Now you just stand over there in the corner until I ask you to come here," Rye waved Marvin off and set about pulling items from the shelves and depositing them on the stone slab that served as a table and work bench in the center of the room. "Things would be so much easier if Illuminati was here," Rye grumbled under his breath.

Marvin watched intently as Rye flitted all about the room gathering gears, tubes, cogs, and various mechanical bits. The cavern began to grow dark as the last rays of the sun were snuffed out by the oncoming storm. Marvin was surprised; it had been so clear earlier and yet as the slightly smaller fae had predicted a storm was indeed on the rise. Fascinated Marvin watched as Rye paused from his gathering and sorting to snap his claws together. Light suddenly filled the room from niches along the walls. Rye picked up a banged up lantern that had been sitting on the table and opened the tiny door. He blew gently inside the lantern and brought it to life.

Finally, Marvin just had to ask what it was Rye was doing. He had been trying hard as he watched not to disturb the dragon, but he was just so curious. Marvin opened his mouth, but was cute off before he could even say a word.

"If you really must know I'm gathering items to repair some bionic hardware. The larger stuff will have to be done later, but I can mend some of the smaller pieces," Rye said with a sigh. The dragon glanced up from his work to glance a Marvin over the top of his new goggles. Marvin could not recall the dragon switching the broken pair for a new one, but could have missed the exchange.

"You see, what was your name again?"

"Marvin."

"Right, Marvin," Rye continued on briskly, as if he was explaining something again for the millionth time. "You see we have a bionic dragon here in our lair. Tanwen was gravely injured one day after a flying mishap in the Scarred Wasteland. The thorns and brambles shredded her body like it was parchment and their poison ravaged what was left. Our best healers stopped the spread of the poison, but could not repair her ruined body. Fortunately Elessar came up with a plan to replace her mangled flesh with metal. There are other dragons like her of course, but they are not too common. Elessar had met one once and was able to apply what he learned from that dragon and others from a book that he had been given. Elessar however, had no skill to apply his concept, but I did. Together we drew up a schematic that would give Tanwen her mobility back. We were also able to camouflage most of our work. Last week some of her hardware was damaged in a brutal fight. Now I have to repair it. I use lightning to arc weld my pieces together since we lack a proper smith. Dragon fire is not hot enough; it also takes a special knowledge of metal working too. Now lightning is not as neat since it is harder to control, but for now it is what we have."
2496217.png

Rye swept along the shelves a few moment more before he next spoke. "Marvin, grab a pair of goggles from the cabinet there and come help me hold things. I need you to do exactly as I say though. This has to be perfect. We are not likely to have much of a second chance."

Marvin had had a boring week. The Light clan he was staying in had been battling with a Shadow clan. Marvin felt no inclination to side with either. Instead, he spent his time in the brain4puzzles library. It didn't hold a lot of scrolls about lightning, arc welding, or bionics, but there were a lot of scrolls on magic, food (especially brownies!) and Foolish Dragon Stories.

Marvin was only mildly interested, but he did amuse himself by sending feathers flying in circles or looking at recipes for Dragon Tacos.

Then, after the battles were over, and all the clan members were resting, he found it.

The scroll was more sparkly then the others and came with a pair of dice. What harm could it be to read a scatter scroll?

A surprised fae looked at himself in the pool of water.

Oh, boy, maybe it was time to go home. Marvin was afraid the lair would have a new Foolish Dragon tale to tell.
______________________________________________
After a while of flying, he had made it back home. Bliz greeted him.
"Marvin! You look different."
"You don't say." Marvin said, a response to Bliz stating the obvious.
"This has been a wild couple of months, I'm afraid our visitors believe that this lair is chaotic, but we're getting the lair stable again." Bliz then smiled before saying two very sweet words: "Welcome home."
