It was nearly time. Soon, night would fall and the Tangled Woods would shine again. It was what Sombra waited for. Time and experience had taught her that this was the perfect opportunity to gather some of her most prized ingredients and supplies. The only hitch in her plan was that she needed to wait until the rest of her fellow clanmates had gone to sleep. So she waited until the last dragon settled down to sleep. Then, Sombra carefully made her way through, easily avoiding the night watch, since she had committed their routine to memory.

Once away from the clan, she let out a sigh of relief and allowed herself to relax. Sombra watched with wonder as the many fungi and fireflies around her gleamed with pride. They refused to be anything other than themselves, and it was something Sombra envied at times. Ever since she was a little hatchling, Sombra had enjoyed creating and expressing herself, usually in the form of art. Her parents had never really approved of this and had tried to nip this hobby in the bud. It wasn't until Sombra had grown that she realized that the rest of the clan was the same way. Creativity and art was something that was frowned upon. She had been told that it served no true purpose and it didn't help feed her or any of the other dragons, so therefore, it was useless.

So once a month, Sombra strayed from her clan to collect ingredients to make pigments and paints for her collection. She had build herself a sanctuary where she could be herself and return to her role once she was done. For an hour, Sombra collected what she could and hurried to said sanctuary. Time was of the essence. She needed to return to the clan before she was missed. She crafted and painted a sculpture of her late sister Tempesta, who had been her closest friend. Finally ready to go, Sombra cleaned her work area and herself.

Sombra was never really ready to go back home, but go home she must. She had indulged herself, after all. It was time to fulfill her role. She took a hesitant step at first, but soon quickened her pace. She needed to get back soon after all. "Where are you going?", she heard a voice say. Panicked, she turned and looked this way and that, trying to see where the voice had come from.

"Who's there?" she asked tentatively.

"Where are you going?" it said again.

At last, Sombra noticed the Lux Spectre at the edge of her vision. She had heard many a tale of dragons disappearing or going mad after encountering these creatures. Sombra knew she had to be careful.

"I'm going home," she replied.

"Home?" it repeated. "You have no home. What lies before you is a choice. You can either continue here as you have before and die miserably, or follow me to your true destiny."

Other Lux Spectres appeared seemingly out of nowhere and together, they formed a trail. To where, she knew not. She figured it either led to her destiny as the creature promised or to her demise. Sombra glanced between the path home and the trail. What the creature said was true. Going home meant she would eventually die miserably, but following the creatures could also lead to a much sooner death.

"What are you waiting for?"

Taking a deep breath, Sombra stepped towards the creatures. "Lead the way," she said. The creatures appeared happy at her choice. She followed them for what seemed to be hours, realizing that she was now truly lost. It was too late for her to change her mind. She simply hoped that this decision had been the right one.
