Chromata ; the Optimist
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - • She/her • Lawful Good • • a b o u t • Chromata was born into royalty, heir to the throne of an Arcane kingdom. Her mother, the queen, had passed away in childbirth, leaving her with an absent father, the king, and her nursemaid/tutor, Zelda, whom she loved dearly and saw as her true mother. When Chromata was still just a child, her father suddenly fell horribly ill. Zelda, astute as she was, recognized the fact that the king had been poisoned, and that Chromata's half-brother had committed the brazen act... and that Chromata would be next. Although her half-brother had been born years before Chromata and deemed himself a worthy ruler, he was the product of an illegitimate union between the king and a mere servant. Enraged at the thought of his baby sister inheriting the throne before himself, he hired an assassin to kill her. Aware of the scheme before it was too late, Zelda took the young Chromata and fled the Starfall Isles, eventually leading them both to the rocky mountain ranges of Dragonhome.
_______________________________
Chromata was raised in the valleys and crags of Dragonhome, always roaming. Despite being driven away from the lands she had been meant to inherit, Zelda educated her in the ways of politics, reading, writing, history... everything Chromata would have been taught if she had grown up as a princess. However, Zelda also taught Chromata the ways of combat, worried that Chromata's older half-brother had not yet given up on hunting the two of them down. Unfortunately, Zelda's worries were not in vain. As Chromata was entering her early teenage years, she and Zelda were ambushed by a faction of her half-brother's army; he had taken the throne and convinced the kingdom that Zelda and Chromata were traitors to the kingdom. Chromata was forced to flee, Zelda choosing to stay behind in order to buy the young royal some time. It was with a heavy heart that Chromata was forced to leave her mother figure behind, fleeing further east until she reached the Viridian Labyrinth. |
