Kasdeya is an ambitious old mage with a strong interest in unethical magic. After her clan fell apart, the only dragons she truly trusted seemingly disappeared, leaving her overcome with anger...

...and a strong loneliness that she wasn't sure she was supposed to be capable of. Kasdeya lost herself in her studies, searching for a way to bring her friends back, willingly or not; but without a way to know where they had gone, she couldn't use magic on them no matter how badly she wanted to. Her options worsened, each book of hers growing more and more useless to her. She burned every book that wasn't aiding her goal, and searched the once-united ruins of Cinderthing for more knowledge.

Eventually, she came across the dragons of the Crackling Forge. The concept of combining elemental magic intrigued her, especially their creation of the robot Digit. If such an advanced lifeform could be created from nothing but mechanical parts and magic, surely she could do the same with organic material.

So much effort, such disappointment. Every test, every new creation, a failure. For every nest that hatches, I hope to see the face of my home; my dearest missing. Just disappointment. Failures. I will not rest until they have come home to me. These test batches will fuel the Flamecaller's ranks until the end of time, it seems.

Beautiful. My patience finally rewards me... A hatchling, every color is the same. He will be perfect... almost. Those eyes are not my Jayfeather's. I may have the power to change your scales, your skin; your every thought and action, I can change anything I want about you. Everything but your disgusting eyes. Books are yet to be written on changing a dragon's element, even though Sornieth's greatest mages and wizards have tried for generations. No breakthroughs. It could destroy me, to try something as risky as that.

Thankfully, hiding your eyes will be much easier than creating them was.
