Ghast

Ghast and Mesa were the progenitors of this clan. New to this life and the world, they were easily confused by the customs of the world. Mesa went on to serve the Icewarden but very soon regretted it. She was separated from friends and family, and Ghast. The two were able to keep in contact a little, with Mesa asking for help, for a way out, and Ghast, ever willing to help her.

It was a plan that took years in the making. During those years Ghast cultivated a clan, by his side were Lucus, Prophecy, and Holmes. A warrior, a future seer, and a scientist. These three were faithful to the end. Ghast snuck through the Icewarden's domain and helped mesa leave, Prophecy predicted every possible move and pitfall, Lucus stood as a bodyguard, large and dangerous, and Holmes helped strategize. They finally had Mesa out of her fate but weren't out of the fire yet. The ice was still all around them, watching and judging. Unease settled over the clan like black ice and many were worried about sparking the ancient dragon's wrath.
They had to leave, and to a place that no one would follow; to The Scarred Wasteland. Prophecy tried to stop them. He saw the plague and how many it has killed, and how many it would kill. Many dragons listened to his warning and left the clan, but few were faithful and joined them on the voluntary exile.
Many of these did not make the trek, sickness and violence claimed the weakest of them. But they still had a plan. Holmes created a rudimentary vaccine for the plague and soon understood how to cure it in the later stages. Such a discovery is still kept as a closely guarded secret for the clan, not wanting to incur any other ancient's wrath.

The clan has evolved into a sanctuary for those with nowhere else to go. Exiles, freaks, loners, criminals, and failures thrive in here and are protected from those who may hurt them by the encroaching plague.
