Biography
Lapis the Waterbender
Lapis comes from a small tribe, on an island in the sea between the Southern Ice Fields and Windswept Plateau. The tribes, known commonly as the Waterbenders have unique dragons that can do a skilled form of hydrokinesis. The isolated island was surprisingly very sustainable, and it's inhabitants had no need to venture out into the sea to find mainland. Cut off socially from the rest of Sornieth for centuries, the Tribes have developed a language different from the classic Draconic. This proved hard for the explorers and researchers to communicate with the wary tribes.
Their special hydrokinesis skills developed through a mutation long ago when a magical ley line power surge happened near the island. The surge was indeed mysterious, and the inhabitants suddenly possessed a strange power over water.
Over time, the tribe dragons have developed skills on how to wield such a power, and nowadays, water benders were revered in their powerful skills. It's quite different from the regular hydrokinesis water magic all Water Dragons can learn, but rather the precise control over the element of the water. Waterbenders can effortlessly change the form of water, heal with water, and hold water with their mind.
Since they had no interaction with the rest of Sornieth in so long, their spiritual ways and beliefs also have been warped drastically. Instead of worshipping the water deity, Tidelord, they worship a great Water Spirit whom they believe their powers derived from. They have such a strong spiritual will, some dragons believe that even Tidelord could not stop the natives from worshipping the spirit.
