Nightshade gazed at the eager dragonets sitting around the fire with her while she chewed on a fish.
"Lemme guess. You want to hear a story." she grumbled fondly, watching the small dragons' eyes light up at her words. "Story! Story!" they chanted, waving their stubby wings, tails, and arms in the air. "Totally guessing again, and clearly not reading your little minds, you want me to tell the story of how I found the clan?" Nightshade hadn't read their minds, of course, but she had to admit that their reactions were funny. She spat out a fish bone. The dragonets' eyes widened in fear of mind-readers. "Yeah!" one piped up, "The whole thing!" It was Summerdance, who had joined the clan a few weeks ago. "Can you really read our minds? Can you teach me?" another hatchling, Seacrest, asked excitedly. She was very interested in magic, often peeking at Cosmo's work. Nightshade glanced around, faking being afraid of her lairmates hearing about her 'mind reading'. "Shhh, they're not supposed to know!" she pretend-scolded Seacrest. - - - - - |

When Nightshade was just a small hatchling, her parents decided that she wasn't worth their time. That the baby was ugly and needed to be sold off. So they did just that. They sold the poor baby on the auction house, as another clan, -Ligeon's- bought her. The clan seemed to be friendly at first, and took care of her. They fed her, cleaned her, and everything else they thought a hatchling could possibly need. But after a while, even that clan got bored of her, and outcast her from the place she had started to call home. She was just a wanderer then. The Ridgeback had had enough of this. She was going to find a permanent home, even if it meant that she would have to find it herself.
After moons of wandering, Nightshade had finally found a clan that thought she was worth their time. As she settled in, she found her mate, Leopard, and decided that this would be her home, whether the clan liked it or not. Her and Leopard actually got along pretty well, and became life long mates. They had many similarities, and that seemed to be why they got along so well. But after the hardships of her dragonethood, Nightshade was just happy that she found a clan that accepted her, even if it was far away from the place she once wrongly called her home. |

Background: Nightshade's parents sold her, so she tried to fit in with the Clan she was sent to. They cast her out, so she became a Wanderer, and in her travels, she found this Clan. She is well loved, and is accompanied by her loyal Hippogriff, Dark. Other: Nightshade also knows a few things of magic, and can sometimes read other dragon's auras.
