Ayase awoke one day, freshly hatched, to see 4 pairs of eyes staring down at her.

As she grew up in the Ananke Clan, Ayase was never told why her existence there seemed to cause so much unrest, but through eavesdropping and stumbling across conversations, she learned that the four founding dragons of the clan had no idea where she came from.

Her egg wasn't one of theirs, and they couldn't work out its origin. She overheard speak of how the egg crackled and sparked before it hatched, and apparently that wasn't regular.

To their credit, the founders did try to raise her well, teaching her the ways of the Stormcatcher and helping her live in his image as closely as possible, but despite their efforts, Ayase was acutely aware that she didn't belong, and that they didn't really want her.

The moment she reached adulthood, Ayase left the Ananke Clan, telling no one, and decided that she would leave the teachings of the Stormcatcher behind too.

She traveled for a long time, never finding another clan she felt happy to settle in to, and finally she decided that she'd start her own. She wanted to provide a haven for other dragons who felt like an outsider, or who had run or been banished from their clan.

She carved a shape into a tree with her claws, and decided that from now on, that shape would be tie symbol of her new clan: The Elysian Clan for Wayward Dragons.

She spent a few weeks alone in the clearing, shivering through rainstorms, and fighting to make the area look welcoming. One night, she was startled by the crack of a branch as another dragon approached through the edge of the clearing.
