Whenever a dragon needs to know how to say, "Hello" in Manticore, is trying to tell if they just got insulted in Plague Flight slang, or is confused about the funny runes on the strange glowing tablet, they go to Kenta. She knows pretty much every recorded language in Sornieth, and a fair amount of unrecorded languages, too. For this sharp-witted Skydancer, translation is the most fascinating kind of puzzle. They don't consider a language 'known' to them until they can speak, read, and write it the way a native would. They spend hours upon hours poring over tomes and texts of all sorts to ensure that they're up to date with the latest linguistic trends. There will never be any miscommunications with Kenta around. She's always direct and to the point when she's translating for another dragon, and she's always takes time to nail each individual's cadences-- both verbal and nonverbal. Kenta's intelligence and penchant for strong communication makes them a vital member of the clan, since the Kuuwardens' values are centered around interconnection, curiosity, and mutuality. This means that the Skydancer's services are in high demand and she often finds herself very busy.
Kenta always has time for her beloved, Nyneve. Nyneve makes an excellent partner because of their relationship-building skills. Together, these two are a model of healthy boundaries, strong communication, and dedicated affection. The two Skydancers like to write little notes to each other in a code that only the pair of them understand. With a linguist in the mix, there's no hope for any other dragon to decipher their communications. For Kenta, communication is at the core of any relationship. They know they're good at it-- and Nyneve knows it, too. |
