Faerie

She is beautiful, and she is kind, but she is not a warrior. From birth, she has abhorred even the slightest of violence. But she is compassionate, and she would do anything for those she loves.

Faerie had a clan, once. They took her in when her parents left her, moving on without her. She was beloved, trusted, loyal to a fault. She loved every moment she spent with her family, for they were a family. Family is more than blood, and she was willing to stand with them until the very end.

Coward. Traitor. Outcast.

But it was not to be.

She fell in love with a warrior, a dragon from another clan, another flight. Upon learning the truth, learning that she’s mated, nested, with a perceived enemy, she was cast out. She was abandoned.

It seemed cruel that so soon after, her mate was killed, struck down savagely by a rogue Talonok. All she could do was watch him struggle as she shielded their children from the sight.

And she was alone in the forest, with four trembling hatchlings. She had nowhere to go, no one to turn to. No one to rely on for protection, not anymore.

She would do anything for those she loves, and she loves her children with a ferocity never before exhibited by her small form. She will always be kind, she will always have compassion, but she was forced to abandon her gentle, peaceful nature.

For her children, she grew strong. For her children, she grew fierce. For her children, she grew cold, and ferocious, and beautiful.

She will protect them until the very end.
