Biography
BIRTH
After dutifully incubating the eggs, Tiresias' parents passed on their hatchlings to Niaka, who advised Jade to put both hatchlings up for adoption. This is a common clan occurrence, and Niaka often personally oversees the growth of August's offspring out of respect for their old closeness. Niaka did not notice anything particular about Tireseias because most skydancers possess low-level telepathic gifts, and his quiet knowledge of those around him did not strike her as out of the ordinary. It was Tireseias' grandmother Saule who rushed to keep Tireseias moments before he was to be given his warrior name and started on the ceremonial path towards exaltation. Saule, embarrassed that she had nearly missed a dragon of her own bloodline, announced that the dragon's name would be Tireseias, and that he had a powerful gift of vision from the Lightweaver enhanced by his natural skydancer abilities. Amused and never one to deny the beloved prophetess anything, Jade blessed Tireseias' new name and allowed a place to be cleared for his lair.
CHARACTER
Tireseias remains a quiet dragon. He is one of the most skilled light magicians in the clan and rarely leaves the lairs, other than to pay respects to the Lightweaver. His visions are so far in the future that it is often difficult to apply them to current life, but they are numerous and detailed, just as Saule expected. Dragons who ask him for advice do so at their own peril--unlike his grandmother, Tireseias tells truths bluntly and never mediates clan disputes. He often observes August, and though August suspects his son wishes to tell his future, he gives him a wide berth.
PROPHECY
At barely two months old, Tiresias casually told his grandmother that they would be leaving the light domain soon. Saule was shocked, and troubled. But "soon" can mean anything from a year to a century to Tiresias. She swore him to secrecy and spends her nights searching the future for answers. She fears she will be unable to stop whatever disaster causes the move.
A NEW FLIGHT
Tiresias changed since arriving in the Ashfall Wastes. He began to wear a scarf over his eyes and picked his way to the shrines with care every morning and evening. Saule watched him dubiously sometimes in case she needed to swoop down to save him from falling in a lava-filled trench. He was trying to regain his Sight through near-constant meditation in the unconscious realm. His despair was too complete to make him aware of others' sadness, and he often felt personally betrayed by the diety who allowed him to see what was coming without helping him understand the sheer magnitude of it.
THE LINE REPAIRED
Tiresias' flame-eyed son was born nearly six months after the clan moved to the Ashfall Wastes. Tiresias brought him to Saule the moment he opened his eyes, and the great-grandmother named him Asche for a dream she'd had foretelling of the cooling of clan strife in a bed of cinders. This latest ancestor, blessed by the FlameCaller, would bring happiness back to a clan still riddled with sorrow from the Great Misery. Tiresias removed his blindfold and removed Asche from the nest to begin his spiritual training immediately.
