Queen Brix is proud and perhaps a little too selfish. Which isn't out of the ordinary for someone with her position. Though her and the missing King Nocturne have had many children, most have perished either from sickness or their trials and none have yet returned to take over as ruler. The royal council all insist that she remarry but they have yet to find a way to force it, though they try, and have grown dissatisfied with her ruling in the King's stead.

Brix is determined to wait for any sign her mate might return with no proof of his death. With no chances left that an heir might be found among their children she has been forced to concede to the council's wishes to take a consort. Finding one that was not under the council's thumb was another matter but she found deep satisfaction with the young and beautiful coatl, Sterling.

origins.
She was born to a large merchant family, frequently traveling with her brothers whenever they went to festivals and market. She lived without worry until she reached her majority and began to be courted by then Thirdprince Nocturne, startled that the royal would have any interest in her when her family held no title. Their courtship was fraught with stress as his majority and trial approached, Brix trying in vain to convince Nocturne to flee to another clan with her rather than undertake it. She eventually became his wife when the prince succeeded in his trials and took over from his father as King.
