Through the Gothic Lens
• She was an odd one, you thought when you first saw her. A soft gradient graced her luminescence, curling temptingly around her genteel body, illuminating her soft scales and softer, welcoming smile. You quickly look away. It does not do to look too hard at the fae.
• She always lingers when she finds you alone, delivering something or other and touching your paws in an overly familiar way. You always snatch your paws back, resisting the urge to hiss.
• Fae do not take kindly to mortals. She is lofty in her words, and sniffs haughtily at all but you. You’ve caught the fae’s attentions.
• Claws, wicked as fish hooks, dig into your sides, and you fight to scream, to thrash, to do anything other than hang there limply. "Yes," she purred, "I think my kin will appreciate a new mortal in the realm of mist."

Her markings itched, flaring a brilliant blue before fading back to their dull color. She twitches an ear, then looks down at her pearl, running her claws over the golden surface. "Who is it," she sighed, "This time?" The image was forming in her head, slowly resolving into a nameless Ridgeback, and the image was reflected in her pearl, thrashing in a dazzling, deadly display. "You poor wretch," she murmured as she closed her eyes, watching the male's slow death at the hands of the pale fiends. Slowly, a name surfaced in her mind, and her claws worked on the floor of the cave, carving the runes in before it could disappear. As abruptly as it came, her vision left, and Arlissa blinked, clearing her sight before she looked down. Illuminated by her glow, was the jagged scratches spelling out the male's name. "Nyvi," she whispered, and the waters trembled. "Another one for the wall," she sighed, setting her pearl aside but a moment as she mended the gashes in the floor before drifting to the table. She uncorked the ink pot resting innocently at the far side, dipped a claw in, and withdrew it to paint on a small roll of kelp. She waved her paw in the sluggish current to rid herself of the excess ink, and she studied the paper before she rolled it up, gathering her pearl as she glided through the caverns. "Kordenth will not like this," she muttered as she ascended, nose breaching the surface of the pool.
