"It is not the end of the world, but you can see it from here."

The surveillance camera in the elevator adjusted its lens as it refocused itself on the couple who had just entered. With a soft clatter, the doors closed behind them and the elevator moved up, higher and higher.

"...There's something I must tell you, Adam." The woman spoke softly, her expressions tightened as she stood nervously in front of the glass window, reflecting a magnificent cityscape bathed in night lights of sepia.

The man said nothing. He merely watched her closely as she finally opened her mouth to speak again.

"...I ——"
*clunk* The elevator doors slid open. The woman's gaze darted nervously at the person by the entrance; feeling positively glad at this interruption, she seized the chance to exit as quickly as possible and secretly hoped that she would find the courage to confess her secrets one day.

Several thousand kilometres away, deep down in a giant facility; a faint transmission noise issued from a circular room emitting eerie green and blue lights. The floor was soaked in translucent coolant of the same color, perched upon was a giant digital monitor connected to a super computer by long thick wires resembling black snakes.

"It's almost time."

A hologram of a woman projected on the largest screen glanced at the message with an expression quite unreadable. She merely nodded, but both of her eyes were still fixed up the surveillance camera inside the elevator.

"Well? Are you ready or not?"

A second message appeared, this time more aggressive than the last. The woman tore her eyes from the elevator and finally directing all her attention on the left console. It would only be too easy, she thought to herself; the way humans connect themselves to the net.

Without realising what she's about to do is going to change her fate in the future, the computer spoke softly to the silence in a misty voice, "Yes Sir, ready as you are."
