As a young hatchling, Jacinda was discovered outside of a small clan that lived on the outer edges of the Shifting Expanse. She was taken in by a strict, elderly dragon who raised her as more of an apprentice than a daughter, taught in the ways of agriculture in the technologically behind clan.

In her teen years, Jacinda became dismayed by the everyday life she lived in the stagnant clan; she rose with the sun and spent her time working the fields and managing housework on behalf of her caregiver, who had become too grouchy and old to perform the tasks himself. Her days were dull, devoid of personal hobbies or excitement, and though her friends would give her the encouraging "Hang in there!" from time-to-time, she desired to do something with her life that would make her feel alive.

That rush of excitement finally found her in the form of a thief named Pyrite. After hearing some unusual noises out in the fields one night, Jacinda investigated to discover a sneaky Fae had trespassed onto her caregiver's property. Despite the frantic beating of her heart, as she had never encountered a possible threat before, she managed to speak boldly.

"Who are you? And what are you doing on my land?" It wasn't the total truth; she didn't technically own anything, though she put enough work into it.
