Arwen had been born to a Lightning clan in the Carrion Canyon. Like all young dragons, she had grown up listening to the wisdom of her parents. Her mother, Shara, was a proud Bogsneak that had taught her daughter that she was the master of her own destiny. Shara had little fear of the world, something Arwen had inherited.

Arwen's father, however, was a different story. Galadhon had once been a brave adventurer, seeking out the mysteries of the world. Parenthood had changed him, however. He had not been the most attentive father in the past and as a result his children had been sent to serve the Gods rather than live in a clan. It was only when Arwen was placed before him that the once free spirited Galadhon vowed to protect her.

While all this sounded sweet in theory, the young dragoness found her father's love to be smothering. She was not allowed out of his sight...ever. He would intimidate any male dragon that got within 40 feet of her. He chose her friends for her using strict guidelines. Even into her adulthood she was told what to eat, when to eat, when to sleep, when to wake up, every choice in her day to day life was made for her. The only freedom she had was when her mother "watched" her.

It was under the care of her mother that she learned to fly, learned to negotiate, and on some occasions, travel to the marketplace in Dragonhome. She loved the marketplace, the smell of spices and meats, the stalls adorned with fine silks, and of course, the other dragons. She loved talking to the other dragons that walked the paths of the marketplace. She would hear stories of far away lands that were different from the one she called home.

It was one such visit to the marketplace that Arwen came across another Mirror that was traveling with a Tundra. Both dragons were male and to Arwen, the Mirror was the most handsome male she had ever seen. He was icey pale like herself with wings the color of fresh blood, and dark denim runes that traced their way across his skin. He wore copper googles over his four eyes, and dressed like a dragon itching for a race.

She watched as he and his companion stopped at a stall to haggle over goods. It was more of the Tundra haggling as the Mirror glanced around watching the dragons that passed him by. Arwen crept closer, watching him from over the edge of a stall selling fruits. She figured if she stayed quiet she could admire him from afar.

"He's a cute one," her mother's voice whispered right next to her ear.

Arwen jumped in surprise, knocking several fruits off the stand. Her mother laughed as she apologized to the unhappy Skydancer who owned the stall. All the dragons around them were now looking at her, including Him! She could see a smile of amusement on his face as he stared back at her. Then he turned back to his companion and they headed off. Behind her, Shara was smoothing over the incident with the stall owner and paying for the damaged fruit.

Once the fruit seller was satisfied, mother and daughter continued on their shopping trip. Arwen was barely paying attention as her mother led her over to the Forum. A large rectangular plaza, that judging from the architecture was heavily inspired by the Sunbeam Ruins. It was only as they passed under the giant columns that Arwen realized where they were.

The Forum was a place where dragons that no longer fit in their clan could go to petition other clans for a place in their ranks. It was also a place where artisans sold their work, and private deals for items were made.

"Mother?" Arwen asked, unsure.

"It's time my little one," she replied, "time for you to find your own way."
