Faint jasmine floats through the warm summer air, delicate floral notes, a soft perfume of fruits and herbs. The entrance to his workshop lies hidden behind the veil of an untamed weeping willow, but it is a place sensed long before it is seen, the scent of tonics and colognes set adrift with the stir of each breeze, or the gentle touch of each wind. Amani claims that this seclusion aids his focus; that his work is quite important and requires deep concentration. Strictly speaking, this is true, and he therefore feigns mild annoyance in the majority of his dealings with his clanmates, whenever he emerges from his work. Off the record, he harbors an immense affection for each and every one of them, and if any of his fellow clan members should need a single thing, whether it is a hot cup of herbal tea or a remedy for a miscellaneous malady or simply an ear to listen, he would offer it with neither question nor hesitation.

In his past life he thinks that he might have been called soft, for all of this. For his kindness, for his compassion, even for the concoctions that he on occasion ruminates over in his spare time, the sweet perfumes and sharp colognes. But above all for the attractions he knows might sometimes manifest, those small sparks of desire that were always crushed, always eliminated, always derided as forbidden. Life is better here, he supposes, where he can do the work he loves, and be himself. Where he can find someone that he might love. But it is too soon, right now. Perhaps it will always be too soon. In the meantime, while he untangles of this in the labyrinth that is his mind sometimes, he reasons that it does no harm, to throw himself completely into the work. If there is a shimmering, glittery romance waiting for him, well, it can wait. He has clanmates he loves, and they are enough. And he has work to do.
