Living in the middle of the clans den, right next to Gris does not suit Crumb well. Despite being one of the founding members of the clan Crumb is an antisocial at heart. You would sooner see him slinking through the tunnels or watching his clan-mates as if they were prey than talking to any of them.

The protector of the clan, Crumbs has proven his loyalty time and time again. This hasn't stopped the harsh whispers surrounding him about banishment. Being right next door to Gris his long ears can pick up all the councils forced on her about his threatening behavior and the worry he causes. She always has the same reply to sooth their fear and then comes straight to his room to sooth his.
Grooming the soft fur at the base his wings she'll mummer how she "wont let anything happen to you Crumb, you were here first. this is your home" and how "well maybe you could just talk to one or two of them every now and again? Just to shut them up a bit"

Crumb knows hes not a pleasant dragon. He knows that if he says one wrong word to the wrong dragon it would spread through the den like wildfire. But he wanted to please Gris.

He decided Callery would be the best choice. A quiet dragon that was rarely seen in the halls but that everyone knew and liked. He wasn't one for gossip but Crumbs had heard he was kind so Callery it was. He slipped into the younger dragons den, making sure to to let the door creak as he did so, and moved through the clutter to a small cliff shelf in the wall he can climb to. He settled down to wait for Callery to be done with whatever hes doing.
His arrival must have gone unnoticed because it was an hour or so later ( and maybe a small nap) when Callery turned around and uttered a small oh! All his spines puffing up with surprise. Or fear maybe, knowing his own reputation.
The younger dragon squawks a lot. Asking a few quaint questions and knocking down a piles of books. Crumbs rumbles out a hello to stop Callery from freaking too much. Quite a while later once Callery realizes he isn't going to get more answers then that, he turns back to his work. He mumbles what hes doing as he does it and Crumbs isn't sure if hes talking to him or just to himself. He listens along anyway.

The next night he pads into Gris's den and curls his neck around her scarred one and they bed down. He slips out that he visited Callery today. Told her they even had a conversation. She curled tighter and told him she was proud. It made him feel good.

His visits to Callery dont show the effects he wanted. Apparently he doesn't talk about himself much and what he has said gets taken the wrong way leading to more councils for Gris. But that's okay. Callery even made a flustered apology to him! No ones done that before.
So he keeps up with his visits. Its nice to have someone talk to him every now and again.
