Any challenge is one worthwhile,
Winking and tipping his hat to thee.
With a chipper hum and a sly grin,
You can bet to be dazzled with style.

The Phantom Thief

Boot clad feet pitter patter over the shingled rooftops of the city; his lithe figure illuminated by the light of the glowing full moon as his tailcoat flutters behind him. Tuning to his left he hears the sounds of sirens go off as he launches himself off the one brick building to the next; before he sees the spotlights circling from above. It won't be long till they've locked onto him, and its vital that he gets the papers he's fought so hard to take back to the guild. Eyes that are surrounded by a petite masquerade mask scan the area around him, he takes in the sight of the city below; people bustling inside at the sound of sirens as a piercing shriek pierces through the night. Without thinking, the ebony haired man whips around towards the sound and rushes towards it, leaping across two more buildings before looking down to the backstreet. Peering down his nose, he sees a woman backed into the wall, a man pinning her there as he makes demands for every coin she has. In a flash the theif lets his body fall to the ground, dropping gracefully and staring down the aggrisive male as he silently walks forward. Gloved fingers reach out, before he plucks a hair from the mans head, making the aggressive man whip around in surprise. "That's no way to treat a lady, you scoundrel" his voice is low, his amber eyes slitting as he looks at the common crook. Though they share similar professions, Arsene is miles above this man's ilk, but perhaps the rival theif needed some compassion just as his lady victim to be did. Gloves fingers hold up the others hair, the blond whisp clinging in the sparse light. "I promise not to hurt a single hair on your head, this is that hair!" In a flash his red gloved hand reaches out again, pulling the man close and into a headlock as the other struggles. He'll admit, it's hard to hold the man, the other being taller than him as he feels the other elbow him harshly in the ribs knocking some of the air from his lungs, but soon enough he's passed out. The man drops to the floor with ease beside the woman who's collapsed onto the ground in fear, her wild brown eyes staring up at the phantom thief. Sharp amber eyes note her shaking hands, how she quivers in fear, making his heart hurt as he stares at the damsel. "What do you want with me!"Her voice is shrill over the sound of sirens, reminding the theif of the precious documents he'd whisked away as he shakes his head. "I want nothing of you, my sweet i, unless you're offering your name. I'd like to know the name of the beauty who's heart I will be taking." The woman's hands fly up to her chest, covering the area as if she's offended, a rosy blush blooming across her pale cheeks. "I beg your pardon!?" The reaction makes him chuckle lowly at such a display, amused by the lady's words and actions for a moment, even as a small bit of him despairs at her words of rejection. Footsteps draw nearer and Arsene hears officers rusing to the alley way, obviously attracted by the sound of the womans distress the same as he was. Bowing lowly, the theif presses a kiss to the back of her hand, before backing away. "As much as I'd like to continue this, it seems that even I cannot claim your heart in such a small time. May our stars cross again, but until then I must bid you adieu!" As he finishes speaking, he turns on his heels, a smile gracing his masked face as he flees into the shadows of the alley. His heart flutters at the thought of getting the privilege of meeting the lady he had rescued again, silently hoping desperately that it'll be when he's not on business for the thieves guild. Oh how his pulse races at the idea of a courtship blooming from a chance encounter, despite the more reasonable part of him screaming that it's likely they'll never meet again. Perhaps he should make a calling card for the occasion....just in case. |
