The Temper of the Mind ╰━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━╯ "His eyes.. they're quite dark, aren't they?" "..Yes, although he clearly has magic pulsing through him just as an dragon, just look at him," The two elder dragons stared down at the young coatl hatchling, looking down into his eyes. One wore a neutral face although the other wore concerned eyes. "There's been many reports of strange eyes all throughout Sornieth, some say it's even a blessing from the dietes themselves.. we've been blessed, dear." One elder reassured the other, nudging the dragon beside him before ultimately turning away from the hatchling. The other dragon stayed a few moments longer, frowning at the young hatchling and ultimately shaking their head, turning away without a second glance. . . And it was during the night that that same dragon would return, creeping into the nest with gentle footsteps. The young coatl was asleep with many others but it was easy for the other dragon to identify him. The one with the odd eyes. It was during that night the larger dragon took the smaller, carefully taking him from the nest and quickly scurrying into the Starwood depths, out of sight of the clan. The elder dragon continued to scamper farther and farther into the woods, the glowing colors trees overshadowing the two dragons, illuminating them faintly until finally they'd reached the edge of the Starwood Strand. "..I'm sorry, little one. You'll be found soon I'm sure.. well... farewell." The elder dragon had carefully set young coatl down, voice shaky as they gave a final swallow. For a moment they only stood there watching as the young hatchling began to awaken, yawning and outstretching his limbs to stretch, head beginning to turn to look up at the elder. Immediately those unusual eyes grew wider, lightening up as her crest feathers drew to raise. "Da!" The elder dragon shivered, spines beginning to rise as finally they took a step back. The hatchling moved to come close, to embrace-- but the figure quickly took another step back, then several, nearly stumbling over their own feet. It was then the elder dragon bounded off into the Starwoods, sprinting ahead and soon out of sight. For several minutes the hatchling attempted to follow, howling 'Da' into the endless forest as he bounded off after the elder, unable to follow, to keep up and ultimately, to even see where they'd gone. He was ultimately alone, pressed up to a tree with the entire forest seeming to stare down upon her. He couldn't smell any of his former clannmates, his Ma, her Da, everyone, everything he'd known aside from the trees, everything was gone. For a day he remained there, waiting for him to return. Waiting, and waiting, and waiting.. Until finally he couldn't help but begin to wander. He wandered deeper into the forest, searching for anyone, anything. . . |
