First and only surviving son of his father's first clutch away from his typical mate's side. His father's typical mate, Spirit, had an affair at the same time. Ryan ended up close to her daughter from that affair, Anise. His father and mother would have subsequent dalliances over the years, but his was the one clutch hatched on the Shifting Expanse.

His eldest halfbrother is Tiernan, "Prince of Plague."

For many seasons he was by Anise's side and they had many clutches. But then Anise grew restless and left the clan along with a few other female Imperials. With nothing to stay for, Ryan set off on his own to explore the corners of the world he'd never made it to.
