naturev4.png Having been around for a very, very long time, Daien does not speak much of his lengthy and convoluted past, but from the sound of it, it wasn't pleasant.

Daien is an aggressive, moody, controlling, and unfathomably volatile old hypocrite. He has no patience for fools and is quick to demean anyone that even vaguely crosses him, and so he is very easy to dislike. However, those that come to know him eventually uncover a well-hidden softer side to him - copious generosity, uncompromising integrity and undying loyalty all temper his ill manner and make him a surpisingly fair leader despite his many shortcomings.

His title of "patriarch" is not unearned. Daien has a habit of outright adopting pretty much anyone that appears to need his assistance. While not necessarily good with children, he does appear to have a penchant for picking them up on the side of the road and bringing them home.

Though Daien is large (he used to be larger), he is thinly built and not very strong. He instead leans towards the use of magic and strategy, and possesses extensive knowledge of the forest and its dangers.
