Biography

Marimo was born within a nomadic tribe that calls the Southern Icefield home, traveling along the frozen tundra and keeping far from the more populated areas, feeling that those that live within the city have forsaken the land and all the gifts the planet has given them.

Marimo was raised to be a Hunter for his clan, as every member of the clan contributes to the health and well-being of all the members of the clan. His first hunt is what gave him the trophy skin that the Coatl wears upon his head.

If there is something that the clan can not gather from the planet or make themselves they willingly trade with the only other clan that they had ever met, which is lead by the young Tundra Hermes. The relationship between the two clans is on friendly terms and they often work with each other and gladly share in the bounties that Marimo's clan farm and create. In such a harsh and cold environment making connections with another clan can make living in such an environment slightly more tolerable and even manageable. Though this cold, harsh world is the only home that he ever would be able to truly thrive in, as most other clans, that Marimo had been informed by the elder dragons in his clan, did not care about the world and those who do not fit into the molds that they have constructed for their strange societies, which Marimo never wants to experience.

Living so isolated from all but one clan, Marimo tends to have suspicions with new dragons that he was just meeting for the first time. Though given how his clan lives mostly away from others he very rarely deals with outside dragons beyond the occasional trading with Hermes clan. Though when he meets other dragons he becomes quiet and often shy's away and allows the other clan members to speak up and take most of the lead so that he can just fade away in the background, preferring to work quietly among those he knows and trusts. It takes a lot to get Marimo to talk and become friendlier with other dragons, though he prefers not to take that chance, incase something goes wrong and it keeps him from getting hurt or hurting someone else.

Though this is more of an assumption then him actually having any experience having done that before hand. He tends to enjoy the routine he has with the clan and never thinks about moving outside that routine. Marimo enjoys the comfort of what he knows and doesn't really want to do anything outside of that, even if the elder dragons of his clan assure him that he can still do his duties and explore new things in the world.

The territory his clan had staked out is sometimes often threatened by other clans seeking more territory to spread out their cities and claim more land, which is not something that his birth clan would allow, more than willing to bare weapons and stop any encroaching dragons to let them know that the land held a clan that lived on this land and it was just not wilderness that could be claimed by any one. Dragon's from the city often forget that there are more simple clans that depend on the land less than the technology driven clans. Marimo himself finds technology suspicious, feeling that it was more dangerous than some of the wild animals that roam the land. At least with those he knows what to expect then from a faceless, emotionless contraption.

Though it is becoming clear that his clan was losing more and more land as other clans that are larger were encroaching on their territory and claiming it for their own, and although Marimo is more than willing to fight to keep their land, he can not wage a battle if there are not other members of his clan willing to back him up.

This does tend to lead to heated arguments with Marimo and some of the younger dragons of the clan butting heads with the elder's in how things should be run. As a Hunter, Marimo feels like problems should be met with force, though a lot of that belief stems from his difficulty in talking with strangers, and finds it just easier to muscle through his problems in feats of strength, which is often how he would settle disagreements among other Hunters when they would arise, and that is how it has always worked for him.

But feats of strength and hunting prowess does not win them allies or promise to avoid unnecessarily conflicts that could end up expending more resources than the clan has to spare. Marimo is aware of this, even admitting that it probably isn't the best course of action but it's the only action he feels comfortable in preforming to get results done.

Which is what lead to his clan declaring that Marimo would go with Hermes clan to learn the ways of clans more closely affiliated with the outside world, so that he could learn better ways of dealing with conflicts as well as being able to socializing with others outside his birth clan.

This was not the decision Marimo had been hoping the elder's would come to. He didn't want to leave his birth clan or the duties that had been assigned to him, but their word had been spoken and at the first new moon, he reluctantly packed up his few personal affects into a brown satchel and made the track through the frozen wasteland to the Frigid Floes where Hermes' clan would be waiting for him. He proudly wore the trophy from his first hunt, swearing to never remove it as a sign that he still held his birth clan tightly in his heart and with the highest honor. He would always respect them and hold them as the only clan he would truly recognize as his own, but he would not jeopardize the friendliness that both clans held for each other, as they were the closest thing to a brother clan that Marimo's clan would ever have.

Arriving safely, he had to admit he was surprised with how large the clan actually was. It was as huge as the dragons that lived in the large and fancy cities, but from what Hermes had talked with others when Marimo would listen, he had imagined just a small family of dragons that were living on their own, he hadn't expected to see so many different breeds and personalities existing in such a harsh place within a massive cave system carved into the frozen walls of a cliff.

To say he wasn't impressed would be a lie. He was also impressed with the size of the cove that had been selected for him. Though Marimo was use to sleeping with the other Hunters, so having his own private space would be a little difficult for him to become accustomed to, and sometimes will still be found curled up with any other dragon that didn't mind.

He does not remove the headpiece, but he is working on being a little more talkative, and although his sentences are often brief and only when he feels the need to share information, he has slowly taken the habit to at least offering his presence to others, even if he doesn't speak he has begun to begin putting in his work and effort, as that was expected from his birth clan and he wouldn't expect anyone else to pull his weight for him. He was not a hatchling, or an elder. Marimo was a hunter and would continue being so til he no longer had the strength to be useful any longer.
