When Mason was younger, he was an army sniper, though he quickly left that life behind when he found he wasn't cut out for killing others. He choose to become a detective instead, working under an experienced private detective until the older dragon passed away; since then he has been working as a detective for Gloomstrum's police force and gone through more than a few partners; often they would get transferred to other stations or a disagreement would harm their professional relationship. However, his most recent partner, Drover, has been with him for several years now.

When he first met the Wildclaw, he was somewhat off-put, almost insulted, that he'd been paired with a robot, taking it as an insult to him; as if the department was saying that since other oragnic people didn't stay around him, he'd only be able to keep a partner if it was a robot. Because of this, he was somewhat harsh toward Drover until he realized that the robot acted like any other person, though he was admittedly more oblivious to social cues. He felt bad after this, finally allowing the robot to get to know him.

He takes his job seriously, a trait that seems to have worn off on his children, and has a hard time prying himself away from it; this is part of what cause him and his wife, Aygul, to grow apart and divorce. He is still on good terms with her though, even if they rarely talk; they'd both agreed it would be best for them to separate so there are no hard feelings between them.


Though he is a very serious man, he has a softer side and takes good care of those he respects or cares about. He is very close to his daughter, Del, though the other one, Rosco, has little to no interest in him.
