Biography
Simon Henriksson
The Jilted Poet
|
Having been part of their first clutch, Simon's parents were unaware that the struggle of hatching was meant to be accomplished alone, and after several minutes of waiting, they simply cracked open and upturned his egg, dumping him out into the nest. They had only realised their mistake when the second egg's inhabitant hadn't been so lucky to survive the drop. Due to the rough handling and inability to strengthen his body through the hatching, it quickly became apparent that Simon wouldn't develop normally.
Learning was a slow process and the patience of his parents and clan wore thin. days went by before he finally started to learn to walk, something a typical Wildclaw would've been doing since the moment they hatched. As he continued trying, it was noticed that the muscles in his legs were weaker than they should've been, twitching and straining with effort to keep himself upright. Born under the Lightning flight and to a species known for it's prowess, something that hindered the ability to run at high speeds was deemed weak and unacceptable. At the tender age of one month, his parents had moved him out of the nest and abandoned him near the edge of the territory. It wasn't until a passing caravan heard his wails of hunger and adopted him into the fold. Unusual but not surprising, Simon strayed from the typical path of a hunter to become more of a scholar, spending his time reading and writing. Any books or papers his caravan traded with, he hoarded with greedy interest, always desperate to get his claws on new knowledge. His interests in literature became more morbid, leaning towards a taste in horror and the disturbed, often digging around in tales of old folklore, of ancient pacts, dark rituals, and demonic depts. His increasingly erratic behaviour often leading the caravan leaders to wonder if the young dragon was a hazard to others and to himself. Simon eventually wandered off from the pack, not that anyone tried to stop him after the gradual display of delirious and violent behaviour he began exhibiting. He was left trudging through the harsh landscapes of Plague Flight territory, lost in a constant daze between hallucination and reality. It is unknown how he managed to survive without falling into pits of noxious wastes, but if any passing dragon were to ask, he'd refuses to speak of his time alone in the wastes. After some time alone, he emerged, carrying an old, worn-out book and sporting a new companion. More alert than he was before, he can often be found wandering the wilds and various territories of other flights, writing stories in his book and exploring new places, sleeping on the open road or with whatever clan lets him stay for the night. |

Carcass
The Safety Net
|
As it's noted, having a Familiar is emotionally beneficial for a Dragon to have. For Simon, it wasn't much of a consideration. He was always lacking in self preservation, and it wasn't until he had nearly trod upon her, injured and frail, a miserable fluffy heap in the dust, that he met what would be a dependable life-line. For the first time since he had left, he was broken out of the things that warped and frustrated his mind. She lay before him on the dusty ground before he gingerly lifting it into his arms, instinctively trotting off to the border of the Water Flight terrirory to nurse her back to health in its refreshing waters.
Named for her fur, which is oddly textured like decaying wood, Carcass hasn't left Simon's side since the day they had met out in the Abiding Boneyards, loyally keeping a watchful eye on him and stabilising his perceptions. She is often seen perched over his shoulder or curled up behind his wings. Playing and caring for her is a vital part of Simon's daily routine, and losing track of her whereabouts causes him to panic.
