Biography
|
Abyssma is the Matriarch of the Bloodmaw Reef. Her mate, Sandclaw, assists in the day-to-day operations of the Clan. Every day, Abyssma visits the Maw, a huge red coral structure that leads to an underground labyrinth of tunnels. In the first few miles down into the system of tunnels and caves, there is a particular chamber that holds the Temple of Aquas, where adult dragons with enough strength to brave the current will sit and pray to the minor Goddess.

Abyssma
-This is the story of one ordinary Guardian that did the most extraordinary things.
Something was stirring in the deep waters, something large and menacing. At least that’s what everyone thought. But the creature underneath these waves was nothing menacing, in fact, she was quite the opposite. Abyssma swam to the surface, her backpack and arms full of fish and some scavenged trinkets. Her clanmates excitedly gathered around her, rummaging through her loot while expressing their thanks.
Abyssma smiled in reply, happy to be of service to the clan. She slowly stalked away, the attention overwhelming her. Her life before she met the clan was spent in lonely solitude, with Abyssma spending most of her time laying about in the reefs, trying to find out what exactly her purpose in life is. Every day she would dive into the waters, the only place where she felt at home, at peace. With all the sea creatures swimming around her, Abyssma never felt like she was alone and an Outcast.
One day, she came across a clan… hearing their arguing voices even from afar. Abyssma peeked from behind a tidal pool’s wall. She saw a small group of dragons bickering at the edge of the pool, two small piles at their feet, one for treasure and one for food. From what Abyssma could hear, one was complaining that their catch wasn’t enough to feed the whole clan, with the other two complaining that they were exhausted and wouldn’t be able to do much anymore. Abyssma pondered about their situation for the moment. She didn’t know these strangers, and she should just go and mind her business… but instead of moving away, her feet went back to the quarrelling dragons.
“Um,” she shyly muttered, taking a step back as three pairs of eyes snapped to her, “I think I may be able to help.”
One of them narrowed his eyes at her, and bared his teeth in a mocking sneer. “And how would you do that?”
Abyssma frowned, finding this dragon incredibly rude. She made no comment and instead dived deep into the water. When she came back, she had her arms full of freshly caught fish. The three dragons’ eyes widened at the sight of her, for what she was carrying in her arms was equal to the one all three of them had gathered together. At the sight of their faces, a small smirk spread across Abyssma’s face and she grinned. The other two dragons immediately helped her out of the water and chatted excitedly with her. The rude one from earlier still staring at the ground in unprocessed shock.
Finally, he snapped his blue eyes at her and muttered an, “I’m sorry... and thanks...”
That was good enough for Abyssma. One of the dragons invited her back to their clan and the she-dragon happily accepted, ecstatic to be around others. When they arrived at the said clan, Abyssma was shocked to see how warmly everyone welcomed her. The Matriarch of the clan was so thankful to her that she invited her to stay with them. Overwhelmed by happiness, she gladly accepted.
And just like that, she had a family. Abyssma learned many things, and grew to be wise, kind and helpful. She was also brave, and determined to complete her tasks. Perhaps that was why the Matriarch passed the baton to her when she died, leaving her in charge of the clan. It was a struggle at first but with the help of her clanmates, Abyssma quickly got the hang of it.
Now, she’s the best leader the Bloodmaw Clan could ask for.
