━━━━ POSSESSIONS ━━━━

Crushed Petals Unicorn Dust
Eda sneezed, sending a flurry of delicate, dried flower petals whirling into the air and settling on just about every surface of his small shop. He grumbled a mildly blasphemous oath, armed himself with a broom and began sweeping them up. It will be a tedious night of separating petals from dust, but these flowers were expensive to import and the key ingredient to his newest creation.

Moreover, their subtle, dainty aroma reminded Eda of home.

He smiled dreamily to himself, leaning on his broomstick, momentarily lost in nostalgia. He was instantly transported back to his mother's amber nest, lodged snugly in the crook of a great flowering tree. He remembered those halcyon summers in the Everbloom Garden, awash in a thousand perfumed scents carried on the meager breeze. Though he loved his raucous siblings, Eda has always been a quieter sort and generally chose to spend time on his own or at his mother's heels. She was his idol in almost every respect, but what he loved best was her seemingly endless botanical knowledge. It wasn't quite so boundless as he had thought, of course, but to an artless hatchling, it was as though she had every answer to any question he could possibly have.

One of Eda's favourite treats, however, was mother's "fancy baths". Once or twice a week during the monsoon season, she would scent his bath with all kinds of flowers and plants, becoming ever more grandiose as he got older and pushed her creativity to the limit.

More than anything, Eda wanted to repay his mother with fancy baths of his own. At first, these were absolutely atrocious soups of dandelions, assorted weeds and clawfuls of grass and leaves. Despite this, his mother would always bathe in the swampy slosh, to the squealing delight of her son. No doubt she would have a second, proper bath later, his early attempts at bathing products would, quite frankly, render anyone dirtier than when they went in. But it set him down a path he wouldn't have otherwise pursued without his mother's support.

In time, both with the wisdom of age, experience and practical knowledge, Eda became and absolutely expert parfumier. He could create perfumes, soaps, bubble baths formulae, scented salts and oils. The little Fae became a sort of minor celebrity among his kinfolk and clanmates. Though it saddened them to see him strike out on his own, each and every one of them wished him luck and many blessings.

It was during his travels that he would reach yet another turning point in life. Eda was selling his soaps from a small stall in the faraway markets of the Windswept Plateau, when a surly-looking dragonelle approached. She sniffed at his products, inspecting the fizzy salts. She eyed him, unimpressed, "They smell nice," she said, "But what will they do for me?" The little Fae stumbled through a meager reply about how they...smelled nice. The snooty female made a dismissive noise and sauntered off.

Eda was furious. He began to study fervently, learning what plants not only smelled nice, but had a wide array of benefits also. He spent days mixing up a whole new inventory and, thusly armed, triumphantly re-opened his stall. Although he deeply resented that pompous female, he had to admit that the new changes to his products made them more popular than ever.

Soon, a new visitor arrived at his stall, a regal Skydancer surrounded by an entourage of clan dragons. She asked many questions and purchased nearly everything he had on display. Eda thanked her profusely, deeply flattered that this noble draka (and, indeed, many of her drakes-in-waiting) so enjoyed his work.

After a pleasant, though unexpectedly long, conversation, the lovely lady, Queen Anarina, invited the little Fae to join them at their home as a member of her budding clan.

Eda sighed, flicking his frills as though clearing the fog of the past from his eyes. He looked around at his humble shop, a far cry from his rough-hewn market stall. Though he had a long night of collecting flower petals from the floor ahead of him, he smiled. The Fae dragon continued his sweeping with renewed energy, humming idly to himself...
