The Scavenger
“Oh? What have we ‘ere?” A pile of dirt was brushed away, revealing a chipped and tarnished ring.
“Ah!” A coatl covered in rags, cloth and cobwebs brought the trinket up to his face, looking closely at it as he tilted it to and fro. “Well aren'tcha a shiny little thing?”
Nodding to himself in satisfaction the coatl tucked the ring away into one of his many, many pouches before scurrying back to work in the cave he was scavenging through. Every now and then he’d mutter to himself as he’d find and stash away shiny little treasures left behind by the cave’s previous inhabitants.
By the time he finished and squeezed himself out of the partially collapsed cave Fufluns had several trinkets, a couple ornamental skulls, a chipped pot, numerous shiny rocks stuffed into pockets and was completely covered in dust. Looking up to see the sun low on the horizon Fufluns gave himself a shake to remove some of the dust and cobwebs before flying back to the caravan with his loot.
“No harm in visitin’ ol Jurah to make sure none o’ this haul is haunted.” He mused in mid-flight, thinking back to the broken pieces of a canopic jar he had found but left behind. “We don’ need more ghosties….”
On he went, humming as loudly and obnoxiously as he could. “Junk! Glorious junk~! Oh but to hoard it or sell it? To brew it or trade it? Junk, glorious junk!”
