Vadalis loves the finer things in life and still believes he should be the one to inherit sole leadership of the clan once his mother steps down. He's built a decent following to support this and the beliefs that the clan should open its borders to foreign merchants and travellers once again, as the clan is slowly wasting away in isolation without their god.

Vadalis doesn't care what the others think or say: the Tidelord isn't coming back. It doesn't matter to him who the clan worships. They could pray to a magical frog for all he cares.

The Prince

Etymology: tyrant
  • Has a clutch with Jazara, but does something(s) stupid and earns her ire.
  • Ex-mate and daughter both cold to him.
  • Doesn't think he did anything wrong with Jazara, but
  • Helps Daphne out of a tight spot.
  • The get along at first, but Daphne starts giving him the cold shoulder.
  • Which is fine, because Vadalis starts trying to charm her back into his good graces.
  • Daphne charts a deal out with Vadalis, promising him 15% of her current personal assets, in exchange for being given the same percent of means and power to manage the trading post with Vadalis.
  • Her current assets are about 15k treasure and a free friendship painting from Bellaire.
  • Vadalis finds out just before signing their deal, and is very Not Happy that he was almost made to look a bigger fool.
  • He kicks Daphne out of the Hub, tells her she's not welcome anymore.
  • Things are quiet for a little (finally), when Vadalis finds out that his daughter, Aisha, has relinquished her share of the Hub, originally given to her in hopes that she would change her mind and learn the trading business alongside her father.
  • Guess who's angry! guess, really, you'd never be able to-
  • Vadalis is angry. Barely keeps his temper this time... only because Aisha is there alongside Daphne.
  • Can't argue against the "share transfer", as he gave it to Aisha in the first place, and it was all done in a legally binding manner (with Bellaire as questionable witness).
  • Agrees Daphne gets a small say in things... or is supposed to.
  • He does everything he can on the side to close Daphne out/keep her from taking part in things.
  • Against all odds, she somehow finds ways to get her word in and information out.
  • Vadalis ignores her suggestions, sometimes intentionally do the opposite in cases he knows aren't harmful (it makes him feel better, alright).
  • Daphne has argued with him several times before in private, but this time calls him out in front of many Important Dragons.
  • Some of those dragons (mostly those who'd benefit from a change in how the Hub is run) back Daphne.
  • NOW Vadalis looks like an idiot and a fool for real- he struggles to save face.
  • Ends up making another deal with Daphne- absolutely gets the short end of the stick and he KNOWS it.
  • (Begrudgingly) begins to listen to Daphne's suggestions when he can't immediately shoot them down.
  • He starts to realize that Daphne's ideas are often really good.
  • Slowly (very very slowly) starts to warm up to Daphne, because she's very clever and good at what she does.
