Gentle but free-spirited, Ayrlan is a bookish creature, though she longs to visit the places she reads about. She is quieter than most Spirals but is just as fond of experimentally erratic flight patterns. She owes her intelligence to her sharp observational skills, but sometimes can't seem to remember things. Despite her forgetfulness, she has a kind heart and will do anything for those she holds dear. Ayrlan was born into the Earth Flight and, as soon as she was able, immediately delved into the great multitude of history books held there. Her voracious appetite for knowledge caught the attention of the Earthshaker, who was glad to pass on a piece of his vast wisdom. As the years went on, her mind began to wander to what lay beyond the borders of Dragonhome. The Earthshaker realized this and, not wanting her young spirit to be crushed by forcing her to stay, told her to go and fulfill her heart's desire. Noticing the Earthshaker's deep sorrow, Ayrlan promised him that she would one day return once she had had her fill of the world. The first place she visited was the Scarred Wasteland, unaware of the dangers there. She wandered too close to the Wyrmwound and fell gravely ill. From there, she managed to drag herself to the crest of Rotrock Rim, where she collapsed. She was discovered by a passing Mirror, who happened to belong to a Wind clan. Xivos pitied the earnest young Spiral and brought her home to heal. When her new clan made the decision to move to Dragonhome, she was overjoyed and made sure to visit her old mentor as soon as they arrived there. Ayrlan's familiar's name is Gus. Ayrlan rescued Gus from Tizaleth's hungry jaws, insisting that she had heard him cry out for help. So far, she has been unable to get Gus to repeat his plea for mercy. Actually, he seems too dimwitted to do much of anything. |
