Meridan was aware of a cold, biting force. Every few moments, the beast would retreat, only to come back and attack her all over again. She heard a thunderous crashing in the distance. Meridan was aware of a rocking. Wherever she was - this strange little dwelling - would tip and sway to the beat of the cold. When the beast retreated, her home followed.
Why can't i move? Meridan asked. Who was she asking? The word 'Mother' came to mind. Who was mother? Would mother help her to move?
Meridan felt a compulsion to break out of her home. But it was warm, and safe, and outside there was monstrous noises. Why would she leave? And yet, she did, she pushed herself upwards against the roof, and felt it quickly give way. Liquid ice rushed into her mouth and lungs. Meridan coughed frantically, and propelled herself upwards and through the substance. There was air, and the air was warm, and Meridan didn't miss her home anymore. Her limbs were weak and unpracticed, but the dragon was born to the water and knew how to swim.

She paddled in circles for a while, but eventually discovered that there was a pattern to fowards. Kick, kick, pause, kick. Meridan continued this till her feet were suddenly caught onto something crumbly and soft. She scrambled out of the monster and onto solid. Meridan was warm now, heat resonated from somewhere 'up'. She crawled as far away from the crashing sound as possible, coming to rest on something smooth and stained with heat. Meridan was aware of a hope, and she decided this new world was quite enough for her.

Meridan is blind. She was born that way, doesn't mind it at all, and is a humble dragon that's quite satisfied with simple things. In a group, Meridan is easily outspoken, but if given the chance to speak proves to be quite an insightful and intelligent dragon. Her word choice is never particularly advanced, but this mirror is able to communicate incredibly deep and philosophical ideas despite this. Meridan's presence is very calming, and many dragons enjoy just sitting on the beach and talking with her, often entrusted with the darkest fears and secrets of many dragons.
She doesn't know her parents - it's assumed that her egg was washed from their nest, because the hatchling was found after a period of heavy storms. Despite her disability, Meridan is an outstanding swimmer and skilled hunter - catching aquatic life by their movements and vibrations of the water.
