As the clan prepared their annual wassail, Koalemos crowed out song parody after song parody at the top of his lungs. Despite his wind lineage, he couldn't carry a tune in a bucket. He wove between the branches of the enormous fir tree and dodged the ornaments that decorated it. From the top of the tree, he looked down on the two clans gathered below.
His own wind clan was gathered around an enormous cauldron of wassail and Bonbon was adding fruits and spices, using the wind magic of her helpers to adjust the temperature and location of the flames. Voices rose in more melodic songs than his own. The drink would be flavorful, light, and just sweet enough to make the tongue tingle.
Their hosts, the fire clan, were gathered around their own cauldron. Koal watched them with more interest. So far they had been fiercely protective of their wassail. Luckily from here he could see just about everything and, more importantly, smell everything. The spiral closed his eyes and sniffed appreciatively. Cinnamon. Cloves. Citrus. And a hint of that firey alcohol that this clan loved so much. The fire wassail would be spicy, hot, and potent.
He licked his lips. Tonight's toast would be memorable.
