Lineage

Biography

the mage

Chevalix was abandoned by her parents, to be exalted to the Icewarden. Her childhood was spent with her fellow exaltees and each day seemed to be her last. Finally, after years of terrified waiting and hard training, she was lined up with the others- now dragons- to be sent off one by one.

By default she was jittery. Chevalix was a shaky dragon, destined to have tremors rack her body forever. Her thinking was that it was due to her being born with a thinner coat, which had no help against the icy winds of the southern icefield. However, that day she was shuddering more than usual, horrible and scared thoughts racing through her mind. She knew that it was an honor to serve your deity, but she couldn't help but hate the gods for not giving her a chance at life outside this icy wasteland.

Her exaltion was a few dragons away. She, out of desperation, thought up a plan and executed it in seconds. Magic cut through the air, stunning (and possibly killing some, but she never wanted to know) dragons and giving her a window to escape. She launched into the air, hearing others shouting and going after her. Chevalix knew that she needed to fly harder, faster. But being a dragon labeled to be exalted meant she never flew very often. Of course they were treated well, but they just never went anywhere.

It took a while but she managed to escape out of the icefields. She had collapsed near the border by Plague and Arcane, huddled by some shrubs, near death. It took days before she could even fly again, and even those were in short bursts.

Chevalix found refuge in Cliffside, when she met Virlu and Qiren at the trading post. They offered her a home when they heard of her skills in combat (trained, of course, to go to Icewarden) and her power in magic. They took her home and helped her introduce herself. She hardly speaks to anyone, but often goes on patrol with Mavir and Qiren, and visits Tobi as much as possible. She much prefers the endless, sunny days of the sunbeam ruins to the horrible cold and snowstorms of the southern icefield.
