It was dark, so dark. The voices that were once softly murmuring and comforting had suddenly become deafening as one by one they started screaming and begging for mercy. Why was this happening?! What is going on?! Make it stop, make it stop! StopstopstopstopSTOOOOP!! The world shattered and their vision was suddenly bathed in a harsh light. Birds chirped overhead and the wind blew gently across the field, but this peaceful scene caused great distress. Where were we? Where was the comforting darkness? Scrambling to unfamiliar feet, they looked at themselves for the first time. Shorter forearms ending with sharp claws, long legs with a wicked scythe on each foot, crinkling paper wings that looked like broken panes and a flexible tail that could easily knock others down. . . what were they? This wasn't their body, no, this wasn't their home. Blinking slowly, they took one step and then another as they felt their body for the first time. The pull of unfamiliar muscles and the balancing of their new weight was weird. It wasn't right. They didn't like this. They needed help, oh how they needed help! Glancing around, they moved unsteadily towards the towering grove of trees in the distance. The darkness they held pulled them towards the grove as the desperation to return home grew with every breath. They had to go, this isn't natural and they didn't belong here. Please, we just want to go home. . . Oblivion is not. . . natural. They are an entity that merely took on the appearance of one of the dragon breeds - a Wildclaw male to be precise. They appeared sick at first and many dragons avoided them or attacked in fear. This lead to Oblivion becoming wary and hostile of those who approached them later on as they expected the worst. Their odd features didn't help and their odd mannerisms certainly caused a lot of misunderstandings. After some time passed, Oblivion became used to their new body and could now move faster than actual Wildclaws and move with a fluid grace that eluded Skydancers. It wasn't natural and many dragons started to fear and even hate them. To protect themselves, Oblivion started collecting bits of armor and trained hard to defeat even the most hostile of hunting parties. However, this caused even more to gather in order take down this new threat. Fighting for their lives, Oblivion was soon forced out of the woods they called second home and chased across the globe. In a last ditch attempt, Oblivion dove into the Tangled Wood and struggled through the thorns even as both the terrain and mobs tore at them. Fear drove them deep into the heart of the Wood and quickly into the foul muck in the Obscure Cresent to hide. It oozed and sucked at Oblivion's limbs, pulling them deeper as the mob rushed past. After the coast was clear, they clawed their way to the surface and pulled themselves from the ooze. Too tired to stay awake, they sank into the crushing darkness of utter fatigue. When they awoke, a cookie lay inches from their maw and a trail of glowshrooms was leading away from them. Curious, but cautious, Oblivion painfully rose to their feet and started along the mysterious trail. Surely, there must be a safe place here among the shadows for them. . . and there was. |
