Sornieth, a land overshadowed by the warrings of gods. Great old magiks served by the dragons that fly the territory of their deity in a constant vie for dominance over the flightlands. For centuries, this battle raged both above and below, alliances and enemies, vicious attacks, valiant defenses and tentative peaces coming and going since time immemorial. In a particularly vicious dominance clash between the Icewarden and the Flamecaller, The tension between the dragons of the respective flights was at an all time high. In this, a clan by the name of Hailstrom lead a charge of several Ice clans that had descended upon the coastal clans of the Blacksand Annex in a raid for resources and eggs. One of these clans was the clan of White Rose, who fought valiantly, but was ultimately overwhelmed and defeated by the dragons of Hailstrom themselves, the brutal onslaught claiming the lives of many dragons, including Larchart, the leader of White Rose. Following this humiliating defeat, the clan rebuilt under a new leader, Kelial, and swore revenge on Hailstrom, this declaration starting a thousand-years war between them. Generations upon generations, Hailstrom and White Rose butted heads, even going so far as to battle even outside of their own territories, one attacking the other in any place the dragons of either clan happened to meet eyes.

3 centuries later, The newest leader of the clan, Valanek, had his firstborn hatchling, Nightkaia. The bombastic young mirror was an asset to the clan, her warrior skills evident even before she reached apprentice age. On the day of her apprenticing, however, the clan had discovered a terrible tragedy. Equa, the mate of Valanek and the mother of Nightkaia and her sister, was found dead protecting a lone clutch of helpless young dragons attacked by a beastclan party. The clan, of course, took in the strange Hatchlings, but the growth of the clan, a time usually to be celebrated, could never outshine the deafening blow that had been dealt to White rose, and the prophecy that followed would overshadow the clan for weeks to come.

This prophecy, along with the loss of their alpha, sent the clan into a high alert, every dragon that could contributing themselves to training and preparing for what they believed to be a battle foretold by the prophecy against the newly discovered beastclan. It wasn’t long before they were ready to take on the massive beastclan head on. Striking boldly in the middle of the day, The ensuing fight was short and sound, and though their defense was strong and their offensive formidable, they were no match for the unwavering dragons of White rose, eventually being forced to surrender to the formidable clan.
Bolstered by their success, the clan returned home. Hoping to honor the memory of their ferocious alpha, White rose celebrated their victory, Drinking and partying well into the night, not knowing that for many, this would be the last party of their lives. It started with the party winding down much earlier than usual, dragons slowly starting feeling more and more groggy and tired than they should have been. Many had begun to head to their dens, hoping to turn in early to sleep it off, but it didn’t take long for dragons to start dropping before they even reached their nests, the weakest of the clan falling to the ground unable to support themselves with either leg or wing. Even the strongest started to succumb to the mysterious sickness, the clan leader sluggish and unfocused. The clan had been poisoned, the very beer they drank having been tainted and served to every fully-grown dragon who wanted to partake, and in the clan’s weakness, they were attacked.

Hailstrom descended upon White rose in a fury of claws and ice, a flood of formerly defeated beastclan in their wake. Taking no mercy on their target, they staged the attack that would end the war between clans. With half of the dragons of White Rose already having succumbed to the poison with the rest of the clan being largely too weak to fight, the ones who still could being the apprentices of the clan, the assault was more akin to a slaughter than a fair clash with every dragon, old or young, being wiped out in cold blood by the rutheless clan. Even the beastclan they had been allied with were rendered unprotected in the eyes of the iceborn dragons in their insatiable bloodlust.

The clan of White Rose had been destroyed on that night as the sun rose on the first day of the crystalline gala. No more would the battle between these clans rage on, Hailstrom finally claiming victory over their enemy by burning the destroyed camp and the bodies of dragon and beastclan alike using the very flames they had sworn fealty to. Dawn broke on a smoking husk of death and ash where a once great clan stood. The story of White Rose should have ended there, as was the goal of Hailstrom on that horrible night, But one survivor still stood. The now lone daughter of Valanek, Nightkaia. The young mirror, finding herself In the Viridian Labyrinth, made the long and treacherous journey back to her homeland, and in the ashes of her former clan, began to rebuild. White rose had been no more, but Nightkaia would start a new era. The era of the clan of Ashthorne.
