Cove named himself for the inlet he now lives in, he hadn't had a name beforehand. He considers the inlet an extension of himself and he is intensely protective of it and anything he considers as part of the area he's staked out as his. He doesn't remember how he came to be or where he hatched, he just remembers he woke up in a dry and dusty place. He has the eyes of a Nature dragon but he's always had a strong yearning to be in and near water, his unusual markings making him stand out a bit; the Tundra male Kester believes he's part Spiney Whale since his markings match his own Familiars markings.

He was flying over in search of a new home when he spotted the inlet and it called to him and he claimed it as his. The Clan leaders were upset he decided to claim it without seeing who ruled the territory but he's not a cruel dragon, just a bit stubborn and insistent on how he thinks things should be, so they eventually grudgingly agreed to let him live there as long as he doesn't cause trouble.

The Maren Wavesinger that lives in the inlet, Moniko, didn't mind when he arrived and said he claimed it, she pretty much ignored his stubborn assertions that the inlet was his now, and continued to live there as she always has. Over time though they became very close, playing and hunting together in the clear waters and often sleeping side by side in the shallows.
