Biography

Biset
matriarch
Wind Runestone

Tarnished Correspondence

Mysterious Relief

Biset is the matriarch of a large, expanding family of Imperials. She and her mate both have renounced the flights of their birth. Although Hadar remains unattached to any particular deity, Biset has accepted the Windsinger as her deity of choice and has devoted herself to studying his teachings and following his wish for wind dragons: to record the history of the world. Biset is equally devoted to her family as she is to her studies, and cares very deeply for not only her blood relatives but all the dragons that live in the broad vicinity of her home.

Biset spends most of her time researching and writing transcripts and new texts based on her research to share with other clans. A good portion of her research relates to the Windsinger, but she's somewhat exhausted the resources about her deity in her own hoard. She is constantly communicating with other clans about what she's found in her research, as well as what they've found in theirs. Her other research is deep into the history of the world, the nature of things, and the history of other clans.

Her daughter Rajni has followed in her academic footsteps, including her interest in poetic writing.

However, her life has not always been so joyous. In her earliest years, not long after she was hatched, a terrible battle was fought over something Biset did not understand, for reasons she would never comprehend. Many died, Imperials and other dragons alike. The dragons remaining, Biset among them, were too weak or too small to separate the massive bodies of the dead Imperials.

Most of them had only vague knowledge of what an Emperor was. Biset herself almost didn't believe in them, assuming the quiet whisperings she'd heard were of some ancient bogeyman, kept alive by tradition and primal fear. This terrible mistake, made in weakness and ignorance, led to the creation of a massive, ravenous, seven headed Emperor. The ensuing fight to defeat the monster claimed the lives of many, unprepared for such a fight. The emperor was defeated, with the help of neighboring clans, but Biset's body and mind had taken a massive toll.

She fled the Ashfall Waste, with the intention of never staying in contact with another Imperial again. However, a lingering guilt about her inability to stop the incalculable loss of life brought on by the Seven Crown Emperor and the resultant desire to redeem herself led her to start something new. In the teachings of the Windsinger, and the support of her newfound mate, Hadar, she found new hope for herself.

Occasionally, she will question the wisdom of having so much of her family, so many imperials, near to each other. The memory of the Emperor looms in the back of her mind, the death of so many she knew and cared about in her youth, but she holds onto the hope and the belief that the past will not repeat itself - cannot repeat itself, if she is ever vigilant.

Still, she fears the day that her control might falter, her careful protection might not be enough, and that her family will have to spread the bodies of their loved ones across the land. In her darkest hours, she wonders what it might look like to see through the eyes of an Emperor, and then allows herself to quietly weep in terror.
nothing is exempt from redemption.
