Biography

Tanner loved the light. She loved the mystery of it as it glistened on the ice. Oftentimes in the winter, when the nights grew long, Tanner would stay for hours staring at the stars.

It was on a night like this that she was confronted by a stranger. He said he was from far away, and had noticed her staring at the sky for many nights. The stranger said that where he was from there were many dragons like her, and perhaps she could come with him.

Tanner agreed to follow him, and after a short journey they arrived. He had taken her to the Starfall Isles. At first Tanner thought this place was heaven. All the dragons in this clan loved the stars, just like her.

Except, it wasn’t really the stars they loved. Tanner would soon realize that these dragons loved knowledge. They loved it so much that they studied everything around them, never stepping back to see the way the light glistened off of the crystals as the moonshine upon them. These dragons were like her in appearance alone.

So, one night, as the moon rose high, Tanner took flight. She was going home. Only, she didn’t quite make it. She had just reached the ice when she found him. Had it not been for the full moon, Tanner likely would have missed seeing the nocturne, half buried in the snow. Had bright red blood not stained the white around it, Tanner still may have missed seeing the smaller dragon.

As it was, Tanner took caution landing. Whatever did this could still be around. Checking to be sure he was stable, Tanner picked the Nocturne up, and began to search for a nearby clan. As she was searching, a frigid wind blew across from the south, and the land grew still. Tanner knew this would mean trouble. A storm was coming, and they were right in the line of fire.

Desperate for help, Tanner began calling out, not caring what may hear. Luckily, what did hear was another dragon. It was a Fae with bright yellow eyes, and it said wait, there would be help coming soon. In a matter of minutes a small scavenging party had gathered around the amber nocturne. They knew how to heal him. Which was great, but they’d have to go all the way back to the sunbeam runes to do so. They were all Faes. There was no way, even with five of them, that they were going to get this nocturne back themselves. So, with a sigh, Tanner agreed to help. After the storm blew over, Tanner gathered the other dragon up, and took off. After what seemed like an eternity, they arrived in the runes.

At this point, Tanner could have easily left, but she wanted to see this through to the end. She had brought this dragon here, she was going to see him wake up.
It was a long three weeks, but not an unpleasant three weeks. When he finally opened his eyes, Tanner, who was out eating, was immediately called in.

Apparently this dragon’s name was Tourneau, and he had been looking for a home. He wouldn’t say what attacked him, but he did ask the clan to stay, and they agreed.
The surprising part was when Tanner asked to stay. She had decided that she liked it here. She liked the way the the moon reflected off of the ancient stone. She liked seeing the stars through branches older than her. Most importantly though, she liked the friends she had made in three short weeks. All of them.

And she had a feeling she would grow to like Tourneau too.
