Alcatraz

Main Theme:I never go down without a fight.

At first she did not like babies at all. They were noisy and too energetic and she liked silence. She liked flying above the forests and fields enjoying sun warming up her skin.

When she was born (and her father was the clan leader) everyone in the clan admired how bright her color was. She liked it at first - she was told she looked like a princess. But later on her delicate beauty turned against her when her clan needed a midwife and a babysitter. There were many dragons in Alcatraz's clan, but for some reason she was the one that could gain trust of almost anyone and the one that was loved by hatchlings. Therefore, she was chosen. At first she tried to refuse, but her mother believed she would be perfect for this job and did not let her quit.

So there she was - unhappy with her task, but hard-working and devoted. She helped to bring up many hatchlings, learned how to deliver babies and soon even started helping local animals and humans, because they all trusted her knowledge. She knew how to soothe pain and wipe the tears.

Her clan had their lair in a dangerous area. One day the leader of her clan and her father came back wounded from his journey. He was attacked by two dragons from another clan. He managed to defeat them, but what the aggressors did was unforgivable. They invaded the clan's territory and assaulted the leader. Soon the war began. The hostile clan was strong and numerous and many dragons from Alcatraz's group were coming back horribly wounded. She was the only one that knew a little bit about medicine and she quickly started treating and taking care of her hurt fellows.

Unfortunately, she did not get enough help - all adult dragons were fighting, only the elder ones and hatchlings could stay in the lair. It was clear that her clan was going to lose the battle. She told everyone to run away and herself stayed in the lair to take care of her wounded brothers and sisters, waiting for death to come. In a few days her clan finally lost and the invadors arrived in the lair, surprised that she had not fleed. She said 'I know what you came here for. I am not going to fight for my life, all I am asking for is for you to let my brothers and sisters, who survived, to live.' Impressed with her courage they promised not to chase the survivors and let her go.

She had to leave her clan and the bodies of her family, knowing she might never find the ones that were still alive. She was wandering with her hope lost until she found a black dragon, who needed her help. He was wounded after a fight. Alcatraz helped him to go back to his lair and took care of him.

The black dragon's name was Rhaaz. As she saved him, his clan asked her to stay. She agreed. Since then she has been helping everyone who might need her knowledge and skills. She serves as midwife, hatchlingsitter and nurse. And now she loves babies - they are the future of her clan and even though they still are noisy, she can find enough patience to take care of them and teach them how to be good dragons.
