The Irish boy gasped as he felt the knife pierce his heart. His eyes widened as blood came gushing from his mouth. Nolan knew his father was a monster, but he never imagined the man would take it so far as stabbing any of his children. He clenched his father’s hand that held the knife before hardening his expression as he yanked the knife from his chest. Blood began to flow freely as Nolan clenched his hand to his chest. It hurt. It was a numbing kind of pain. “Nolan!” cried Maddie as he started to race over to his brother. “Stay away, Madison,” he choked out. “You’re free. Finally. I’m happy about such a thing, okay?” He tried to smile through the pain. Maddie was free from their father. He didn’t have to live in fear of him anymore. Nolan wheezed before coughing. His vision started to blur before it cut to complete darkness. He felt as if he was falling, and he never hit the ground. It felt as if his energy was being drained from him. He smiled. He was happy that Madison was safe from harm. Ablack and gold Pearlcatcher sobbed over the unmoving body of a red and black Wildclaw. He had laid his own head over the Wildclaw’s neck as his tears fell. Madison didn’t even care they were not the same anymore. His wounds healed, but his brother remained unmoving. Life wasn’t fair. Why try to give them a second chance at life if his brother didn’t come back? Life wasn’t fair. The young dragon sniffed as he moved to curl next to his brother. “Why do you cry, young one?” a chilling voice rang through the air. Maddie’s head moved up as he heard the voice. He looked around before making a noise as a large dragon appeared from the shadows. His purplish-pink eyes glowed with malicious intent as he moved his way toward the Pearlcatcher and his unmoving companion. He stopped as he got them before bumping his paw with the Wildclaw. He did not move. “Ah, you cry over a loved one,” he purred. “I can bring him back … if you want.” Maddie stared at the strange dragon before sitting on his haunches. “You …” he sniffed. “You can bring my brother back?” He wanted Nolan to come back to him. He wanted Nolan to comfort him when he needed comforted. “Please bring him back.” He was desperate at this moment. They were in a strange world, and the only person that could help him … couldn’t help him … “Of course, dear boy,” Freyr cackled. “I can do whatever you wish of me.” He moved to place a paw on Nolan as a dark energy began to crackle around it before the energy began to spread. Red eyes snapped open as Nolan took a deep, surprised breath. The young man couldn’t move his body. It wasn’t working for him. He managed to crane his neck before chirping a noise. He wasn’t him. No, he felt like himself. He stretched his claws before looking at his legs then the tail that seemed to move on its own accord. Nolan gasped as he felt the control of his body returning before he shakingly stood on his hind legs. The Wildclaw took a step forward before crashing to the Earth with a loud yelp. “Nolan!” came a familiar voice. “M-Maddie,” he managed to cough out of his dry throat. “W-What … W-W-Why?” He was still disoriented from everything that had happened to the both of them. His red eyes stared at the boy. “I thought …” “You died?” finished Maddie as he sat beside his brother. “You did. Right before we ended up here as … something.” He wasn't quite sure what they were at the moment. Dragon was the answer he thought of many times; however, he hadn’t seen anybody else rather than that being that brought his brother back to him. “Then why …” “Somebody used some kind of weird magic to bring you back. I’m so relieved, Nolan. I don’t know what I would have done without ….” “You’re an idiot, little brother,” coughed Nolan before he tried to sit up again. He managed this time. The Wildclaw stared at his brother before moving his tail to wallop him over the head with it. “Why would you do such a thing?” He didn’t even know if he was truly alive at the moment. What kind of magic had this magician performed? He stared at his skin as dark energy crackled across it. |

“Please,” Maddie said as he stared at the two of them. “He didn’t mean it. Brother wouldn’t …” Nolan’s head turned before he stared at the scene before him. What had happened? Did … Did he do that? His eyes closed as he tried to block out the image of the dragon he had been fighting. He felt the weight lift from him as he stared at the creature that had knocked him down when he was on his rampage. “You are a dark creature,” he said. “However, it would seem you have some sentient will left in your body. You would make a good asset to my frontlines.” Nolan stared at him. He didn’t know what this Skydancer was saying. Asset? Frontlines? He gave him a confused and blank stare. The Skydancer stopped before laughing a bit as he saw the look Nolan was giving him. “Oh, silly me,” he said. “My name is Thor. And, you are on my grounds of Valhalla.” Nolan became a fighter for Thor. He struggled with his thirst for blood as he managed to work his way through the ranks of the god. It became apparent that he was something to be feared according to the other dragons. Nothing knocked him down. He would keep going and going. Scars healed on the dragon, but he never said anything about them. Madison likened it to Nolan’s pain receptors being shot from being brought back to life. No pain could keep him from completing what he was meant to do at the moment -- Fight. It may have worried Thor as he watched his strongest and most determined warrior become even more violent as time went on; however, he knew that Nolan was strong willed. He knew that the young man would never intentionally harm the others that lived in Valhalla. However, that fear of the undead creature began to grow. And, Nolan, he heard every word of it …. |
