From the time he hatched, Badari has dealt with the curse a dark mage cast on his family many generations ago. It started with his great-great-grandmother who, as the story goes, tried to leave her clan but they didn’t let her go easy. The leader let her leave to find another clan to join, on one condition... the rest of her long life would be spend in agony. The spell causes the affected dragon’s body to slowly and painfully turn to metal. It starts on the outside, with claws and individual scales and feathers. It can be useful for fighting in the early stages, until it progresses to the wings and legs. When flight and other areas of movement are compromised it becomes more of a hinderance than an asset. In her later years, Badari’s great-great-grandmother barely moved outside of finding food and shelter. She eventually died of starvation but not before raising hatchlings she had years prior and unknowingly passing down the curse.

In an attempt to cure the curse, Badari has found multiple methods of easing the pain and slowing the process. He is unable to fly and can only walk slowly, although he is clever enough to stay out of danger. Either way, his thick and hard hide can fend off most bites and scratches. As time went on he has gotten more familiar with it and luckily it does not hinder his sorcery and verbal spellcasting. He practices often, usually assisting with the clan's excavation discoveries of a magical nature.

In an event of need and during festivals, he acts as ambassador to the domain of the Tidelord, as they are quite surrounded by sea. He is proud of his Water flight heritage and takes pleasure resting in the weightless and comforting feel of water. Badari celebrates Wavecrest Saturnalia, albeit a bit differently than most and off to the side.

Badari works with his steam gyre familiar to counteract the limits of his metallic body and access places he can’t. As an unexpected benefit, he has some companionship and finds himself glad there is someone to listen when he thinks out loud.
